    <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">How's this for a paradox?

On the one hand, junior point guard Jarrett Jack isn't sure he's ready for the NBA. He's hedging his bet by not signing with an agent, retaining the option to return to Georgia Tech.

On the other hand, Jack thinks he's too good to play in the games at this week's Chicago pre-draft camp. He said Thursday he'd participate only in the physical and measurements portion of the camp.

Jack's position would seem ridiculous, except it's commonplace. With each passing year, it's harder to find a first-round prospect willing to play at the NBA's version of the NFL scouting combine.

"It's getting extremely difficult," said Ryan Blake, assistant scouting director for the NBA. "I think it's a matter of ego and what these advisors are telling kids."

A decade ago, only the top handful of NBA prospects felt they were above playing in the three days of games held annually at Chicago's Moody Bible Institute. Last year, just three eventual first-round selections -- all taken in the bottom six picks of the round -- played in Chicago.

N.C. State's Julius Hodge might define what's happening. He was recently quoted on scout.com as saying he's performed well enough in individual workouts to skip the Chicago games. The implication was obvious: Hodge believes he's now a first-round pick, and can only harm his standing by playing in those games.

Bill Neff, who represents Charlotte Bobcats point guard Jason Hart, said that's standard advice.

"Agents would almost universally say that," Neff said, "because with a large percentage of general managers and scouts, you're thinking, `The more they look at you, the more likely they'll find something wrong with you.' "</div>

It is ridiculous for the players to skip out on these camps and showcase there 'actual' skills. Screw sports agents!

Props to David Lee for disregarding his agent and playing in the Chicago Pre-Draft because he's confident in his ability and has nothing to hide.

Randall Morris pulled out of the camp. He's going to let the pros rank him by the season he had, which should put him high...in round 3
