Caron Butler for the #4 pick in the draft this year? The idea is to draft Chris Paul with the pick.

    Thoughts?

I doubt NO would trade the pick for Butler. They already got JR Smith to develop.

EDIT: Arent Bobcats trying to trade up for a higher pick? Why'd they give up #5 for Butler?

Don't see why the Cats would do It and Chris Paul won't be available at that time. If he was, they would keep the pick.

Does It make any sense from the Hornets point of view either? not from what I'm sitting. Would be a nice deal for the Lakers, doubt It happens.

I guess the idea is JR Smith at SG, and Butler at the 3.

But will the number four pick be able to land Paul? I thought he was a top three pick for sure.

New Orleans will be the loser in this trade. If the Lakers can pull this deal, they can get Deron Williams for sure or maybe gamble and get big man Channing Frye. I think Lakers wil be highly benefitted by this deal.

If Bogut and Marvin Williams go 1 and 2, If Portland doesnt pick a PG as expected, Paul could be available at 4

Caron Butler isn't worth that high of a pick.

Why on earth would New Orleans do this trade?

They have the chance to draft a 10 year point guard, at a position which they only have Speedy Claxton covering with Dickau almost certainly leaving.

Why then trade it for a swingman? Would much rather draft a highly rated point guard than trade it for a small forward who is yet to show he can be anything other than a second or third option.

Maybe Butler and the 10, but I still wouldn't do that if I was New Orleans with the chance to fill the biggest hole on my roster.

Yea this is a dumb trade for them take Paul why would you want Butler anyways when you can have a PG for the next 10 years... Just sounds like a lot of bs to me it's like us saying oh we can trade Chris Webber for the 2nd pick not going to happen.

I heard this info when Stephen A was talking during a sportscenter interview couple of days back. He ended by saying Kobe/Lakers finally decide they need a PG or something..
