<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">CHICAGO -- Florida State sophomore wing Von Wafer will stay in the NBA draft and not return to the Seminoles after signing with an agent.

A representative of agent Henry Thomas said that Wafer had signed with the agency. Florida State coach Leonard Hamilton said that he had expected that to occur. He said he didn't anticipate Wafer returning to school. Wafer worked out in Chicago but wasn't a part of any NBA-sponsored event.

"I've always known Von's desire to play in the league, and I always knew he would likely stay in the draft," Hamilton said by phone from Tallahassee. "He's capable of making it."</div>

I think that this is a bad idea for Wafer, although I have heard he was frustrated with the program and maybe this fueled his decision to go pro. Maybe he will regret this in the future because he can be a great player.

Yea that would be sad if that is the reason he decided to come out. But if it works out for the good then that would be nice. A lot of players don't so hope he isn't another.. Is he expected to be drafted or is he a long shot?

Wafer has some talent, that's for sure. He can get hot and really be a good offensive player, and he's got some skills on defense. He's a pretty good college player. College player. Not pro player. If he's really dissatisfied with the 'Noles program, he should transfer, not throw away his career by leaving early when he's not ready. If he stayed in college for 4 years, there's no doubt in my mind that he would turn into a good role player in the NBA. Leaving now, however, is stunting his growth, and I think it's going to be the beginning of the end of his career. [IMG]

Another going pro mistake. Along with Omar Cook and the likes. He most likely spend the rest of his career playing in the NBDL or Europe. I sure hope I am proved wrong, but this is what I believe will happen. I agree with Schaddy, in that if he stayed for 4 years he would have developed into a good/above-average player. One other thing that bothers me about this is FSU. They did not even try to keep him there. I mean they should have been honest with Wafer and tell him that he is not ready for the L. With all this being said, I hope he does make it though.
