Why is he a cherry picker because he likes winning? It's not like he doesn't contribute..Whatever team he is on he gets the job done. Just because he doesn't start and put up 30 every night doesn't mean he didn't earn his rings..I think someone who actually cares more about winning than the money is such a rare occurance in this league, you kind of have to appreciate the way Horry operates.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting hungi1115:</div><div class="quote_post">ok ppl, robert horry (aka- cherry picker) is about to win another ring. and he is about to pass jordan with more rings. how embarassing would that be for the all time great. yeah sure mike got 6 rings, but the second string cherry picker got 7. i just wish the pistons' win even tho i dun like them... </div> you are defanitly right......dont get me wrong he is an excellent player off the bench and in his younger days he could do alot more.....i think he deserves the rings with the rockets.....and maybe 1 with the lakers but with the spurs i really think it was the others spurs that did the work....but hey he just ends up with the great players of the game, he is a very clutch player tho i willl never take that away from him...but jordan earned all his championships.
Horry has helped all the teams to move deep into the playoffs and into championship contention. He may not be the best player or even a star, but he worked for all his championships. Hey, the guy was lucky enough to be on good teams, but he contributed to everyone of those titles. He wasn't a full time bench warmer. He is what you call the ultimate role-player. He fills the needs of these Championship teams. <ul> [*]He and Scottie Pippen are the only two active players with five-or-more NBA Championships (Horry has five while Pippen has six) [*]A member of the 2000 Laker championship team appearing every game of the Finals [*]Recorded 7 points, 6 rebounds and a game-high 4 blocks in a 111-104 win over Indiana on 6/9/00 in Game 2 of the 2000 NBA Finals [*]Posted a 1997-98 season-high 23 points (9-11 FG, 5-5 FT), a game-high 13 rebounds, 4 steals and 3 assists against the Vancouver Grizzlies on 3/15/98 [*]Set an NBA Playoffs record, for most three-point field goals made in a game without a miss (7), against the Utah Jazz in Game 2 of the 1997 Western Conference Semifinals [*]Set an NBA Finals record for most steals in a game with 7 against the Orlando Magic in Game 2 of the 1995 NBA Finals [*]Ranks second in NBA Finals history in career 3PT-FG made with 38 (Michael Jordan leads with 42) [*]A member of the 1994 and 1995 back-to-back NBA champion Houston Rockets [*]Has appeared in 118 career NBA Playoff games, averaging 9.9 ppg, 6.0 rpg, 2.9 apg and 1.32 spg [*]Ranks 5th in Rockets franchise history in three-point shooting percentage (.365) and 6th in blocked shots (343) [*]Established career-highs in 1995-96 in steals (1.63 spg, 16th in the NBA) and blocked shots (1.54 bpg, 20th in the NBA) [*]Set a Rockets' franchise record with 9 three-pointers against the Cleveland Cavaliers on 2/22/96, and set a single-season career high for three-pointers made with 142 [*]Scored a career-high 40 points, hitting 8 three-pointers, against the Milwaukee Bucks on 11/16/95 [*]Named to the NBA All-Rookie Second Team in 1992-93 after averaging 10.1 ppg, 5.0 rpg and 2.4 apg [/list]
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting playmaker31:</div><div class="quote_post">42 three's for a career? Thats not very much, I always thought he had more.</div> LMFAO......c`mon bro u cant have seriously thought that Jordan had only made 42 threes in his career????? that is one of the funniest things ive ever heard
I think one thing that poeople forget about Robert Horry is that he has a pressence on the basketball court, no its not a dominate pressence. But still its a pressence. Robert Horry being a 4 man who shoots the ball well from three especially in big spots come playoff time creates floor space. It opens up those lanes that you see guys like Ginobli & Parker driving thru because other teams 4 men have to stay with Horry out on the perimeter and cant stay in the lane clogging up & preventing penetration. The reason why the Pistons defense well in the first two games wasnt as strong as usual had alot to do with Robert Horry & the floor spacing of a Power Forward who shoots the ball well from the outside creates. And I think that people forget how strong Horry has been defensively during his stay on championship teams. I mean you can go all the way back to the 1st Rocket championship against the Knicks and see it. In that series despite being a Small Forward at the time(Otis Thorpe was the PF), he spent times guarding Patrick Ewing during the NBA finals. And that allowed Hakeem to spend time playing off the ball. Andbe a defending shot blocker which dream did best. And that was made possible because Horry(of course Otis as well) had the defensive skills to cover Ewing who was pretty much the best Eastern Conference Center at the time. Over the years in the playoffs Horry has been asked to cover everyone from Chris Webber to Rasheed Wallace and always holds his wieght, so I dont understand how people can deny Horry of his championship respect. Yes, guys like Jordan, Dream, Shaq etc are the franchise players behind Championships but guys like Robert Horry, Horace Grant etc are the role players that glue everything together.
Horry is sick, he's always been a big contributor to the teams his won with, he's just plain sick. He get's down defesively, rebounds, and is clutch on the offensive end. I don't know why the thread is titled Jordan losses to Horry though lol. Didn't Horry just surpass him in Finals three's, that's not losing to Horry lol??
At the end of the day you don't log minutes on that many successful teams unless you're doing something right - no ifs or buts about it. Sure he's been lucky, but he deserves his success.
i wouldn't consider horry a big contributor when his carreer average is less than 10 points a game and he averages less than 5 rebounds and only about 1 block. the guy plays power foward, he should at least get more blocks and rebounds.....
Forget about who is clutch or whatever. Stop the Horry hating. That guy is a legend for what he has done for us Lakers. He was part of a team that gave us three great years. Even he said that greats like Patrick Ewing and Charles Barkley never got rings and he appreciates that he has so many. He then said that these guys will be remembered in the future as the greats but people would have forgot about him. He is a class act.

he now helped the spurs win game 5....if detroit went to san antonio up 3-2...i would belive they would of won the series...but now they r down 3-2..and i have doubts that detroit will win 2 straight at san antonio....so u can say horry turned the series around.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting hungi1115:</div><div class="quote_post">do u really think horry woulda made a different if he was in a laker uniform...nobody gives a damn about horry. hes' anicent and old and rusted!</div> damn, its your type that makes us Laker fans look so bad. i wonder what your gonna say about game 5 in Detroit?
