Do you guys think that Gordon will start next season and move hinrich back to pg. Or do you think hinrich will stay at shooting guard and duhon or pargo will play pg. I hope gordon will start next season but he showed last season that he sometimes does stupid turnovers. Also he is a undersized at sg and dosent having the passing abilites to play pg.
he has to improve in those areas you mentioned. but if he is still effective off the bench then i dont mind if he doesnt start, although i'd prefer Hinrich at PG.
I think the only reason he did not start this year was that he was not able to play at a high level for 35-40 minutes, and that is why Skiles brought him off the bench. If his endurence steps up, I think he will be starting next year.
I think that Gordon should start and will start next season he will make the Bulls a much better team than the are now with Gordon in the starting lineup.
He should start next year at eitehr guard. I think he needs to have more endurance if he wants to be able to start and like miamiballa said he needs to cut down on the turnovers and he must also improve on his defense.
Yes. Ben Gordon should be the starting shooting guard for the Bulls next season. There is no question in my mind that Gordon will be working hard in the off-season to get his endurance up and therefore he should be ready to step in around 36 minutes a game. Anytime a player gets the sixth man of the year he should be looked at by his coach to start and the fact that Gordon was a rookie when he did it makes it hard for him not to start.
Yeah, I think Gordon should start.. I mean, the 6th Man of the Year who is going into his 2nd season, why shouldnt he start? I am thinking that he's going to be a whole lot better next year than he was this year, and I also think he will be an All Star in 2 maybe 3 years.
I dont think he should start hes not good enough to start and hes very effective off the bench. If it aint broke dont fix it i think.
I don't give a **** if he starts or not, as long as he plays the entire 4th quarter of every game the Bulls play...
Gordon is smaller then most two guards but I think he should still get the opportunity to start for the Bulls since he is probably their best offensive player. Gordon proved himself as a rookie coming off the bench, now he should have the chance to prove himself as a starter in his sophomore season. With that being said Gordon does have some improving to do if he wants to be and stay a starter. One of those things is defense; he won?t be able to play big minutes if he can?t defend at least half way decent. Another thing is he has to improve on his awareness and handling of the ball, I remember Gordon?s turnovers were pretty high for his rookie year, and he was only coming off the bench playing 24-25 minutes a game. The Bulls won?t be able to start him if he commits turnovers at a similar rate.
Gordon doesnt have the all-around game that warrants starter's minutes...he's an explosive offensive player, and nothing more...he's undersized for a 2-guard; does no pass well (or enough) to run the point; and can struggle defensively...I'd much rather see him playing against backups than starters...he's instant offense; the second coming of players like Vinnie Johnson and Eddie Johnson...but if Chicago does indeed stick with having him come off the bench, then he will have that 6th Man of the Year award on lock for years to come...
You know, it doesn't matter to me. The team success is what matters. I put 100% of my trust in Skiles' decision. I do think that he will be starting next year, but at the same time, I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if he remained coming off of the bench. His size really means nothing, because he's bigger than Duhon, the one whom he'd be starting over, so we're not going down in height. The only guys who are going to start alongside Kirk are Gordon or Duhon, we don't necessarily need a big guard to start. It would be helpful to acquire one to give us a 11 minutes or so a game, but other than that, we'll probably always have a small backcourt if Paxson truly sees this team as future contenders with this blueprint of a team. But what some people are forgetting is that our bench play was A LOT of the reason we were successful and is a lot of what we do. Ben Gordon was the scorer off the bench, and Tyson was the defensive sparkplug. We had the perfect balance of offense/defense coming in playing at the same time, and Skiles may want to consider that when he's making the decision on whether or not Gordon starts. But, also take for example, Kirk's play at SG. He went into a terrible shooting slump until he finally sat out for injury, which gave him the rest he needed. He was tired, plain and simple. I don't know if he could handle guarding the opposing team's 2-guard night in and night out. We can't tire Ben out, we need his ability to put the ball in the hoop. Kirk's scoring is a lot less important, because he's less of a threat, but his shooting is still much needed on this team. I see Skiles testing it out for a few games. If it works out, it'd be permanent, if not, we'd just stick to the current gameplan we use right now.
I think that if Duhon does not come back to the team then Gordon will start. One down side to having Gordon start is his turnover to assist ratio it is something that really was a question mark for him all season that, and his defense. If he can improve one of those two areas then he will start. I think if they do put him in the starting lineup he has the chance to be a twenty point a game scorer next season. He is top ten I believe in the league in shots per 48 minutes so points won't be something he struggles with. Another thing I worry about when placing him in as a starter is stamina. Gordon built his reputation this year as Mr. Fourth Quarter he did not play many minutes so he had his legs and energy for the fourth quarter if he starts and plays extended minutes is it possible he will struggle with stamina, and not be as affective in the final stretches of games? In the end like Ed said Skiles will do what is best for the team weather it is starting Gordon or not. I think he will try a few different lineups at the start of the season before he makes the choice on the final starting lineup, because you will never know what ean do as a starter unless you give him a shot. There are many questions e needs to answer (Gordon that is) about his game hopefully he shows he deserves to be a starter next season.
I think Gordon is the best player from the 2004-05 Draft. I think someday he is going to be a superstar and retire a HOF'er. I think he is going to start next season, and starts making the team his.
^ Gordon is going to be second or third IMO. The class of '04 belongs to Dwight Howard. Just wait. If Duhon is re-signed, I would still bring Gordon off of the bench. He can still get his 15+ points, and play the majority of the 4th. If the Bulls let Duhon walk however, he would more than likely start, but as said already, needs to cut down on the turnovers and play better defense.
He obviously has the talent to start. But it really doesnt matter but as Noir said as long as he plays the 4th quarter its all good.
