<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">The Mavs are negotiating a buyout of the last two years of Tariq Abdul-Wahad's contract, though a trade remains a possibility. The perpetually injured forward is on the books for $15.2 million, however only $5.6 million is guaranteed. The Mavs are reluctant to add salary in any trade unless it leads to a significant improvement. Abdul-Wahad has spent little time with the team the past two seasons and has repeatedly criticized the organization on his Web site.</div> Source My prediction, as soon as Tariq becomes a free agent he will sign with the Spurs and be a great defender again.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting MagicFan3:</div><div class="quote_post">How on earth did he get signed to such a bloated contract anyway? Was he really once that good?</div> When he signed his contract there was no salary cap, so he was well overpaid in comparison to today's contracts. He showed some potential to be a premiere defender early on in Sacramento.
I didnt even know Tariq was still in the league...but he used to be a premier defender, its a shame injuries curtailed his career...
