<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">CLEVELAND - Robert Traylor's voice mail greeting bellows: ``The bank of Tractor Traylor is closed.''

Known for his quick wit and his generosity with his extended family, Traylor's recording jokes that if you're calling ``for a loan or a handout, you should hang up.''

The gregarious forward, though, likely will be talking money when the Cavaliers call Tuesday. The team has until Wednesday to exercise the option in his contract for next season, the first personnel decision for the Cavaliers' interim leadership. It is believed that the front office is still making up its mind.

Traylor averaged 5.5 points and a career-high 4.5 rebounds last season in 74 games. He was perhaps the Cavaliers' most consistent reserve despite playing most of the season out of position as the backup center. He showed good leadership, especially during the stretch run in an attempt to make the playoffs.

He signed for the so-called ``million dollar'' salary-cap exception last summer. It paid him $1.6 million last year and included an option worth $1.76 million for next season.</div>

He was a decent back-up for the Cavs, but I don't see them bringing him back. The Cavs need to develop Varejao next season and giving him Tractor's minutes will be a start.

I would like to see him resigned. He was a very solid backup for us at center last season. 1.76mil for him is a bargain. You wont find a backup as good Tray come as cheap as that.

You will not find better help coming off the bench for that price. We would have to overpay to find a backup with expercience.

AV still has alot to learn, his time will come. He is too foul prone to be given full backup minutes at PF.

His cap figure is definitely reasonable considering what Tractor Traylor brings to the team. However, if Dan Gilbert wants to make a splash in the free agent market, every dollar he can use has to be made available. $1.76Million does not seem like much, but it could be the difference in landing two top free agents this summer.

Traylor was basically the only consistent guy off the bench last season, so I'm really hoping the Cavs pick up his option, because there really isn't no one on the market that attracts me as a backup to who ever our center will be next season.

    hmmmm

First off a 1.76 option for Traylor seems practical. On the flip side they need as much cap space as possible to sign free agents. I think they should take the option and hope the 1.76 doesnt make the difference in free agency.

How about Jiri Welsch [IMG] (worst trade ever not related to the Knicks [IMG] )

His salary was a relative bargain for an NBA big man. And he played well down the stretch, which made it a hard decision. But the Cavaliers' biggest priority right now appears to be clearing salary-cap space. ``This decision was a difficult one to make,'' interim general manager Mark Warkentien said in a statement. ``It was made in order for us to gain additional cap flexibility heading into free agency, where we expect to be very active and aggressive." Looks as if Traylor is gone.

it looks good on the surface that we are saving money, but where are we going to find a reserve with his type of skills for that price? nowhere. bad move, IMO. I understand people that want to play anderson more think it's good for him but if we sign a guy like Curry than anderson better have a clone because he can't be a sub for gooden and curry at the same time. Here is to seeing a lot of Diop...

They're not going to get a back-up with that much skilll for that little money anywhere. Bad move getting rid of him
