There may be some interesting sleepers in the 2005 draft especially towards the end of the first and all the 2nd round.
There seems to only really be 5 star potential players in the 1st round, but there is also very little talent difference between the players at 10-40,so a future nba stalwart may be taken late

    my draft sleepers

    ANGELO GIGLI (italy)
    RANDOLPH MORRIS

    my draft fallers

CHRIS PAUL (can u spell jameer nelson picked 20th?)
    RONNY TURIAF
    CHRIS TAFT

Who do you think will suprise from the later picks????

I say that Danny Granger is a sleeper in this draft because he came from a small school, but he does have skill to compete in the pros.

If you watched Morris in college last season as I did, then you wouldn't think he's going to be a sleeper. You ever heard of a center that averaged 4 boards a game and started? And now he's going NBA. This guy will get killed in the NBA next year, but he has the potential to be a solid big guy in the NBA. I just think it will take some time for that to happen, though.

I think Hakim Warrick will be the sleeper of this years draft. He will probably be picked outside of the lottery but will produce for any team he goes to.

Morris is definitly a project but a 7`0 -266- freshman centre in the 2nd round is a risk worth taking....good centres are golddust in this league

knicks should take him at 30 if there

id almost guarantee skinny goes 15-25 in the draft, but you got question his skills and durability....his best case scenario is KEON CLARK

Vazquez is the most nba ready player in the draft and i have a very sneaky feeling he could be going 5th to charlotte

Jawad williams is just not good enough,i been saying this on another forum for like 3 months and he absolutly blew out at portsmouth draft camp, his stock is so low right now he may go 55-60

He was still in the Tourney 3 months ago, then if Vazquez goes to Charlotte I'll be really suprised because Charlotte has Brezec and Okafor and no Point guard.....hmmm, now wouldn't that be stupid to stall the progession of Brezec and Okafor.

    brevin knight????

i have good source in euroball that says vazquez has verbal agreement he will go top 5

i`m just figuring that of the top 5,charlotte would be the most likely cos they have the 13 pick to use or trade up with.......mccants/jarrett jack would be there

Not sure what you're reading, but Morris is 6'10. Of course someone is going to take a chance on him since he's only 19. I say late 1st round is the highest anyone should take a chance on him.

Brevin Knight is a free agent buddy, I'll be glad if Charlotte takes him so Utah can get Paul or Felton [IMG] . Then do you mean trade down on the 13th pick? Jack isn't going to be there if they trade down either. Jack is going to the Lakers. McCants isn't all what you think he is, he can only shoot and drive, everything else sux bout him, he a headcase, bad attitude, crappy D, and undersized.

I have to disagree, he's good player, but he may turn out to be a project like many other international players. The most NBA ready player in my mind is Chris Paul, by far the best guard in the draft and can contribute automatically.

I can, and it isn't spelt like that. Paul has had the hype for a few seasons now, unlike Jameer who had that one super season with St Joes.

As for sleepers, I think guys like Ryan Gomes, Kennedy Winston and Matt Walsh represent value - guys that really understand the game of basketball and how to get their points, but don't have the athleticism and 'upside' hype as other prospects. These are prospects that are going to be available in the late first/early second, and have the ability to contribute almost straight away.

Omar Thomas (6'5" SG/SF, UTEP) -- versatile swingman who can get you twenty and ten in his sleep. Dominated in the JUCO circuit and in the WAC. Instantaneously turned UTEP from cellar dwellars into a two time NCAA Tournament team. The absolute sleeper of the draft. Could not be stopped in both NBA predraft camps (Portsmouth and Chicago). Doesn't play in a high profile league, but is as intense and as focus as they come in college basketball.

Robert Whaley (6'10" PF, Walsh University) -- Outside of Andrew Bogut, possibly the most polish true big man in the draft. NAIA player of the year in 2005. Very talented post player who can score in a variety of ways. Was once rated the top high school prospect in the country (came out w/ Brown, Chandler, and Curry). Legal troubles and poor grades forced him into obscurity. Played two years of JUCO, one year at Cincinnati, and one year for Walsh, the NAIA national champions. Seems to have turned his life around but question still remain about his attitude and work ethic. If his head is on straight he can be a steal in the second round.

Vasquez has just begun to win a regular role on his euro team. Compare his stats to H Warrick, and remember Warrick was on the NCAA champs a few years back. Granger,Simien,Diogu,Paul,Felton,D Williams all have several years as starters and stars in strong leagues.
I see no reason to rank Vasquez in the top 20. Jawad is a decent player apt to stick as a backup, with a slim chance to upgrade his tools over time and become a regular. Mid round 2 at best.

Sleepers- Salim Stoudamire can out shoot, out score the top 3 PGs by plenty,he can add adequate PG skills. NBA teams may claim to like a pass-first PG,but AAron Miles is not on any round 1 list. Diogu will go higher than most expect, and still be a bargain. Round 2 Brandon Bass,Gomes,Larry Roberts have "steal" qualities. If he stays in the draft,Dwayne Jones is a major sleeper.
I think mocks undervalue Warrick,Simien and Blatche. Any of them can be late lottery and a bargain.

Taft was a bust waiting to happen. He had a late round 2 season and only the residue of pre-season hype kept him afloat this long. McCants was pretty soft on D,is unsersized,a one-tool guy. Multi tool Julius Hodge has been getting respect lately,as has Granger,so they lose the sleeper tag. Deng Gai will need work, but is a rd 2 bubble guy who's D can earn him a job.

Petro seems to have the physical package and no skills. Very risky pick even late first

I cant comment on any player that I have not seen either here in the US or overseas-However I am hearing some good things though about Roko Ukic 6'5" point guard who dominated Eurocamp this year-cant wait to see him

    SLEEPERS:
    1. JULIUS HODGE-I NEVER LIKED HIS GAME BUT HE ALWAYS SEEMS TO BE AROUND THE BALL EITHER ON OFF OR DEF-makes things happen
    2. LUTHER HEAD-I DONT KNOW IF I WOULD USE HIM AT THE POINT BUT AS A TWO HE IS NASTY
    3. RYAN GOMES-HAS AN ALL AROUND GAME-WHEN HIS WEIGHT IS DOWN HE IS DANGEROUS BUT IF HE GETS SOFTER AND BIGGER WE ARE LOOKING AT ANOTHER MO TAYLOR-THE KNICKS MAY DRAFT HIM-UNDERSIZED PF-
    4. STEVE SMITH-LET ME TELL YOU SOMETHING I SAW HIM PLAY TWICE LAST YEAR WHILE IN PHILLY ON VAC.THIS DUDE IS A PLAYER-CAN DO EVERYTHING AND PLAYS D-IF HE PULLS OUT THEN COMES BACK NEXT YEAR-POTENTIAL LOTTO PICK-LEGIT 6'8 sg or sf FROM LASALLE-HE WAS KILLING CATS AT THE CHICAGO PRE DRAFT CAMP-WAY BETTER THAN RASUL BUTLER OR DONNIE CARR
    5. TRAVIS DEINER-I ALWAYS LIKED HIS GAME-WHEN MARQUETTE LOST HIM LAST YEAR-THE TEAM WENT SOUTH-HE HAS THE POTENTIAL TO BE A STEADY PG IN THE NBA

*WAYNE SIMEN SHOULD HAVE BEEN ADDED TO THIS LIST-HE IS NOT A SLEEPER THOUGH-WILL DO WELL IN THE LEAGUE IF HE CAN STAY HEALTHY

    SNORED ON-OVERRATED:
    1. CHRIS TAFT- WAS A BUM IN COLLEGE, WILL BE A BUM IN NBA-WORKOUTS ARE SAYING THE SAME
    2. RANDOLPH MORRIS-A STIFF-WILL NEVER AVG MORE THAN 8 PTS 8 REBS A GAME IN THE NBA-
    3. CHANNING FRYE-I STILL DONT UNDERSTAND HOW MR SOFTEE HAS BECOME A LOTTERY PICK-HE DIDNT DO ANYTHING IN THE 2ND HALF AGAINST ILLINOIS
    4. LOUIS WILLIAMS: SAW A COUPLE OF HIS H.S. GAMES-HE IS SCORER, THATS IT-OFTEN GOT FRUSTRATED WHEN THINGS DIDNT GO HIS WAY-LOOK AT HIS GAME AGAINST MONTA ELLIS-HE CONTINUOUSLY MADE BAD TURNOVERS THEN GOT A TECH IN THE SECOND OVERTIME THUS LOSING THE GAME AND FOULING OUT-THE MAN ON THAT TEAM WAS MIKE MERCER-LOOK OUT FOR HIM IN A COUPLE OF YEARS
    5. CHARLIE VILLANUEVA-SOMETHING ABOUT HIS GAME THAT I DONT LIKE-O YEAH HE HAS NONE
