<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">The stock of high school guard Gerald Green continued to plummet in the eyes of the Trail Blazers on Tuesday when the agent for the Houston prep star held firm in his demand that Green audition without competition.

The Blazers, who hold the third overall pick in the June 28 draft, wanted Green to work out Thursday in Portland with Seattle prep guard Martell Webster, North Carolina guard Rashad McCants and Washington guard Nate Robinson. But when agent Andrew Vye told the Blazers that Green would work out only by himself, general manager John Nash told Green not to bother coming.

"To say that they are not going to use a pick in the draft because a kid won't work out against guys who I think aren't anywhere near his class or caliber is posturing," Vye said. "I think John Nash really likes Gerald Green; that's my gut feeling."

Nash scoffed at Vye's assertions, saying that the DVDs the agent provided are virtually worthless because they are solo workouts.

"In the Bill Bayno workouts, he's not guarding anybody," Nash said. "And any workout that he does, according to Andrew Vye's rules, will be devoid of defensive competition." </div>

Gerald Green better find a new agent ... QUICK! As his agent, how can you refuse to have him play one on one with any of those guys?

Gerald Green towers over Nate Robinson and McCants. He should be quicker than Webster.

And then to provide only DVD videos of one on one workouts to showcase Green's defense. What a joke?

Yea this guys agent is being a total retard, and I'm sure he fed Green some crap like"it's better for them to see you alone" or something like that. Why work out alone, when he had a better game than Webster at the MAA game.

I totally agree with you shape, Green needs to take care of this problem ASAP because his stock will only drop because of this. This looks very suspicious in my eyes. He didnt play in Chicago or any predraft camps nor has he played in anything other than individual workouts. No offense to HSers but the NBA is a whole nother level of competition. Some people called Green's defense average at best - if he wants to be a big name at the next level he will have to learn to play defense. By refusing to work out with the others I think he can kiss the #3 spot goodbye.

Also from what I have been reading, Martell Webster is the more polished player now and ready to contribute. The only thing Green has on him is potential and sheer athleticism. I bet his agent is worried Webster will outplay Green and doesn't want to risk the few draft positions that Green would fall if that happened.

With Green's stock falling who sees a trade coming up for Portland?

I see the trade with Boston, unless Green makes his agent let him work out in groups. If not I think he'll go to Charlotte.

Yeah, most likely the only reason is because green will get outshined by the other players, i guess namely Webster, and his agent really doesn't want him to look bad, hence lower his draft spot. I think portland is still really high on him, and just trade down to get him.

What are you talking about? [IMG]

Marvin Williams and Andrew Bogut are going #1 and #2 to Atlanta and Milwaukee. Atlanta has said they will take whoever Milwaukee doesn't take. Not to mention that Gerald Green is not working out for either team just adds to the fact that Marvin and Andrew are going to be the first two taken.

Also on your list you are forgetting Chris Paul who will be taken before Deron Williams. Look for Paul to be drafted either third or fourth no matter if a trade goes down or not.

I don?t know, Hunter. With Telfair being Portland?s point guard of the future, Paul isn?t getting drafted by the Blazers. According to NBADraft.net, the Hornets have made a promise to Deron Williams.

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Sources have indicated that the New Orleans Hornets have a promise to take star Illinois point guard Deron Williams with the 4th pick. Williams is widely considered a top 5 pick among scouts, and while it's unlikely he'll go top 3, look for him to end up 4th.

The Hornets were said to originally be high on Gerald Green and may have even told him they were planning to take him 4, however in the past week things seem to have changed. It's not clear if Green's agent's (Andrew Vye) decision to work him out individually was the cause, but after trading away their franchise point guard, Baron Davis toward the end of the season, the Hornets find themselves in a position to add a quality PG with either Chris Paul or Deron Williams, whichever of the two falls to them.</div>

MrJ you cannot discount the Blazers taking Paul if they feel he's the best available player at #3. Even though they have Sebastian Telfair, they can explore trading either player or trade out of the spot if they get a good enough deal. With Paul available they will have plenty of options already from teams trying to trade up to draft him. Would you rather draft a player who was willing to work out with you and impressed you, or would you draft a player who refused to work out in a simple one on one workout? Nash was absolutely right when he said right now Gerald Green needs to show us why he should be choosen as #3 in the draft. Portland holds the power, not a high school kid who is still living off the hype of the McDonald's game. The job of Green's agent is to showcase his client to as many teams as possible. If not, and he expects Green not to slip past a certain spot he's not protecting against teams trading out of that position to take Green. What happens if Green only works out for the top 5 teams in the draft and gets passed up for one reason or another. By not working out for other teams, and the teams he worked out for passing on him, red flags are going to go off and teams who haven't even seen him will panic and also pass on him. This happened to Amare Stoudemire when he declared. He refused to workout for Golden State (selecting 3rd) and a few other teams in the middle of the lottery. Then the rumors started floating out about his attitude and he dropped all the way to #10. In hindsight he looks like a steal for the Suns, but during the draft workout process teams passed on him because of uncertainty. Right now Gerald Green's agent is creating the same uncertainty around his client.

Maybe Greens agent knows something that we dont know. He could be taking orders from the family of the agent. They may realize that he is not a good one on one player and his stock may take a hit anyway. I dont know why Portland would want him anyway considering that Green has proven to be an athlete, nothing more. He probably wont be able to contribute for at least 3 years which would bring him to the end of his contract. I saw him in an AAU game here in ATL and he really didnt impress me. He had some dunks nothing more. NO defense and his shot was not falling plus he yelled at his players for not giving him the ball enough. Damn he shot the ball at least 30 times. Remember as a scout, you should not only look for potential but the work ethic to be a better player. Watch his games, unless he gets the ball every time down the court, he disappears. Based off of potential he should in the middle of the furst round.

The agent is a fool. Green has a lot of ability, his HS stats say he can look good against most people,he delivered in the McD game. It seems GG can handle the pressure,it's his agent who can't. There's some irony here too. Marvin's D really sucks, and he hasn't been on the workout circuit either. Also,a peculiar twist is that Webster and McCants are not very good defensively,so this group favored Green.

When someone puts Green at #1,its a reach,as he's not the 7 ft sure thing-however he very well can be the star of the group in a few years.
