<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Arizona State's Ike Diogu, the Pac 10 Player of the Year and the first player to lead that conference in scoring, rebounding and blocks, wants to thank Elton Brand. And if the Nets draft Diogu, they'll certainly thank him if he plays like Brand. Diogu, a 6-foot-7, 260-pound power forward, led four prospects who worked out for the Nets yesterday. Diogu is among a group of power forwards the Nets are considering with the 15th pick in the June 28 NBA draft, although the consensus is he will go later in the first round. His tweener size figures to hold him back, but Diogu points out that Brand has been considered too small. "Elton Brand fits that undersized power forward mold, but he helps us undersized guys out because he goes out there and averages 20 and 10," said Diogu (22.6 ppg, 9.8 rpg and 2.34 bpg). "He opens the door for guys who aren't blessed with tremendous size but go out and give 110 percent." </div> Source
I hope Diogu gets to a good team that fits his style of play, I dont think he will be ineffective just because he is 6'7, Him and Warrick IMO are both going to be good at the NBA level and If the nets can land one of them It'd be great.
diogu is very athletic and can def run in the nets fastbreak but not really a pf and nets needing a PF like warrick who is also athletic
Another article I found on the Ike Diogu workout <div align="center"><div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Are we about to see the second coming of Elton Brand? According to draft experts, Arizona State's Ike Diogu has similar physique to Clippers' forward as well as a similar game. And he could be just the type of player the Nets will be looking for with the No.15 pick in the June 28th NBA Draft. Diogu, who declared himself eligible for the NBA after his junior season with the Sun Devils, was one of four collegiate players to workout for Ed Stenfanski and his staff on Wednesday. Kelenna Azubuike of Kentucky, Juan Mendez of Niagara and Rutgers' Ricky Shield were the others.</div></div> Nets.com ------------------ The thing is that he is actually even smaller then Elton Brand hieght wise, I read somewhere that he is more like 6'6. So you cant help but wonder how is he going to effective get off his post moves, against the lenght that is in the NBA now. But it is looking like he might be the top 2 bigs, as far as being complete, so at 15th that might be to good to pass up even with the size concerns.
<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">diogu is very athletic and can def run in the nets fastbreak but not really a pf and nets needing a PF like warrick who is also athletic</div> I don't know about very athletic, he's strong, and has an okay vertical, but he's not quick or fast As you can see he had tied for the 3rd lowest agility time, and was last in the 3/4 court sprint. To what Henacy said, Elton Brand is 6'8, and has a 7'6 wingspan [same as Yao], a lot of times it's about wingspan with these smaller guys. Diogu is 6'6 1/2, 6'8 with shoes, has a 9'1 reach, and a 7'3 1/2 wingspan. While not as good as Brand's, he has a longer wingspan that Bogut who's is only 7'3, and a similar wingspan and reach to guys 6'11+.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting thedude9990:</div><div class="quote_post">warrick is prob gunna b drafted by the warriors thats why he dropped out of his workout for us</div> true, true...diogu's stats are pretty good but i dunno i mean if Sean May's still available....
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting shapecity:</div><div class="quote_post">led four prospects</div> Spelling error? Not very professional IMO. Anyway, I'm pretty sure the weight was 185 lbs.
Yea it's 185lbs, I can do that about 3-5 times, but I'm only 177lbs. Anyways, some of those guys are pretty dissapointing. Monta Ellis is a highschool PG, and he's very unathletic, a 31.5" vertical, slow agility time, and a slow sprint time. This definately did not help him. <u>My stats:</u> Bench Press: 3 Vertical Jump [Standing]: 35.5" Vertical Jump [Running off Two Feet]: 38" Vertical Jump [Running off one foot]: N/A Lane Agility: N/A 3/4 Court Sprint: N/A Maybe New Jersey will draft me, I can backup Jason Kidd
