Damon Jones had a breakout season for the Heat this year. Sure he choked at the end of game 7 but you can't blame the entire loss on him. He may not be starting material for a contening team like the Heat, but he had a good year. He averaged 11.6 PPG, 2.8 RPG, and 4.3 assists per game. He'll be back next year, but I'm not sure that he will be the starter. He hit some really clutch shots this year, and hopefully he can be a good 6 man off the bench. What do you guys think about the Heat's sharpshooter.
Damon jones..wow dat 3 point shot is MONEY lol but anyways he might not start next year if we find a better point guard. But either way im still comfortable with him startin or coming off the bench. And once again WOW that 3 point shot is MONEY, im still in shock that he didnt make the 3 point shootout
I heard if Damon Jones leaves then the Heat are going to try and sign Earl Watson and Antonio Daniels, but if I were the Heat I would stand pat with Damon Jones.
Watson and Daniels would be good fits for them. Damon is very one dimensional and if they can get a PG with better defense they should take him. I think spot up shooting PGs play very well with Shaq and a two guard who dominates the ball. Derek Fisher was a great fit in LA because Kobe had the ball most of the time and Shaq or kobe could kick him the ball from the paint. If they can get a PG who can hit the three, doesn't mind Wade having the ball alot, can play defense, and can be relied upon to be a second option when Shaq or Wade is out they definitely should take him.
Yeah, I do not believe that Damon will be with the Heat next year. I think they will keep Dooling have him as the starter and if there is a good PG late in the draft they will gran him, if not they will get one in FA.
i heard that he was gunna opt out and i heard that he thinks he will because like someone said the heat are looking at daneils and watson who would start ill try to find the article it was on hoopshype a few days ago
I wouldn't mind Daniels because he is a solid contributer. Watson had one good year so it may be a bit of a gamble on him. Daniels is the safe pick. Are there any good guards that we could grab at 29. Nate Robinson maybe, or Salim.
I would think a player like Daniels or Watson are looking for the full MLE or more. The Heat should not waste their money on just one of them because they have other needs to fill. I would much more prefer Daniels over DJ because he can defend, but then again, we'll lose the outside scoring from DJ, which is very important to have when Shaq is on your team. The thing is, Jones is suited for the 6th-7th man role, he's not a starter. If he's asking for something close to the Full MLE...forget it.
Damon seemed to struggle more in playoffs, because Shaq wasn't healthy and didn't draw the same number of double teams, so Damon couldn't get off his shot. A player like Antonio Daniels would be able to create his own shot, but isn't as prolific a 3-pt shooter as DJ is. I think Mike James would be a perfect fit, too bad he has 2 more years with them still.
Yea I would love Mike James to come back over to Miami, his outside shot is just money. He didn't get to much playing time down here, but I think playing with Shaq could really help him.
