<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post"><div align="center">Maxiell to Utah?</div> Another day, another supposed promise. Does this one make sense? Who knows. The latest "promise" this time is supposedly coming from the Utah Jazz, directed towards Cincinnati beast Jason Maxiell. It started obviously after Maxiell pulled out of the Chicago pre-draft camp after only one day. His agent, Richard Katz, told us that there are three reasons why they decided to do that. One was the fact that Maxiell had a graduation to attend. The second was that Maxiell had some personal matters to attend to back home in Texas. The third was that they were told by a couple of teams picking in the late first round that Maxiell was being seriously considered for their pick. In the past few days the team that has emerged as the front runner to pick up Maxiell is Utah. The fact that Maxiell is a prototypical Jerry Sloan player is a no brainer. Katz refused to name any specific teams in our conversation, though, only stating that they were very confident about the fact that he's going to be a first round pick when it's all said and done. </div> Source If they did promise him, just wow , why pick him???
Another promise to a college senior, again, these promises make no sense. Whether it's Channing Frye, Jason Maxiell, or Hakim Warrick, no team is going to promise any of these players. I think this rumor was speculated because Maxiell left the Chicago pre-draft early. When all is said and done I think it's more realistic for the Jazz to trade the #27 pick than to draft Maxiell there. I can see the Jazz and Sloan interested in what he brings to the court, but I don't see him cracking the 1st round, and Utah should be able to get him at #34.

Asked if the Jazz make promises to potential draftees, O'Connor said, "No." Asked if they had made any kind of commitment to Maxiell, who worked out for the team two weeks ago, O'Connor said, "We made no promises -- none -- to Jason Maxiell." </div> <div align="center">Source</div>
It is a risky move if the Jazz do draft him that high, if I was with the Jazz I would not pick im that high maybe in the second round though.
Man I was ready to go to the Delta Center and shoot somebody. I'm glad it's just rumors, what we need to be looking at is point-guards and back up centers.
