I have heard that the Lakers and Blazers are discussing a swap of picks with the lakers obviously throwing in a player on the side. Evidence to support this is that Gerald Green agreed to work out for the Lakers despite there being no chance of his beeing around at #10 and the Blazers working out Martell Webster who they wouldnt pick at #3.

Well if you remember, the Lakers were looking to draft Gerald Green so that they can somehow go after Kevin Garnett. I still have no idea how they will get Garnett but having Kobe and Green would still be a nice duo. I think the Lakers would have to throw in Devean George which wouldn't be too bad.

I hope this doesn't happen, I like Green and I absolutely do not like the Lakers and I don't want one of my favorite players to play for my least favorite team.

Good, because I don't want Gerald Green in a Laker uniform either. He can go ride his McDonald's game hype wave somewhere else.

If we do this trade...I'd rather get someone else at the 3...Felton, Paul, or Deron Williams will be there...there is even the slight possibility that Bogut (severly doubt it) or Marvin Williams will be available...I think all these players will have a bigger impact in a first year (which Phil Jackson likes) than Gerald Green would...

In Emplay's article he mentioned this, and then mentioned how Utah interceded. He says signs point to Blazers dealing with Utah instead.

This is why it's hard to believe any of these alleged rumors. I'm sure the Lakers are trying to get a trade done, but when the team makes it known to the other 28 teams in the league that a certain player or certain pick is available, most teams can and will outbid the Lakers for that player or pick.

I bet if you landed Deron Williams or Chris Paul he would play them. I don't think Lakers' fans can take Chucky Atkins much longer. [IMG]

And correct me if I'm wrong but Phil has never had to rebuild a team; he always came in when the team had untapped potential and then put 'em over the top.

A different situation may call for different tactics.

I think Phil would play a rookie if his name was Deron Williams, Chris Paul, or Raymond Felton. I think they would all make an immediate impact for the Lakers.

I don't think Phil Jackson would start any of the players in this year's draft right away, including Andrew Bogut. Phil Jackson likes to teach the game to the young players so they learn to play 'his' way. The best way for these young players to learn is watching from the bench and seeing how a veteran goes about playing their position. The Triangle offense is tough to learn, because you have to be able to read defensive sets and adjust the focus points of the Triangle to them. So each player on the court has to be insync otherwise it's not going to work. These young players not only have to learn how to move around in the offense, they also have to learn how their teammates position themselves and what their tendencies are.

The Lakers will groom these young players and Phil Jackson will only give out minutes to the guys who give him effort on defense. Next year I expect this to be the starting lineup, assuming no trades are made.

    PG - Caron Butler
    SG - Kobe Bryant
    SF - Lamar Odom
    PF - Brian Grant
C - Vlade Divac or Chris Mihm

Phil doesn't really have a good run on building up rookies no matter how good they were. So whoever they draft weather it be Chris Paul, G-Green, Raymond Felton or any of them, I doubt Phil's going to start any of them.
