Wednesday we get Webster and Wright to come in and Thursday we get Gerald Green and Joey Graham to come and show Babcock what they can do. Babcock seems like he knows what he's doing this time around!
ya, i dont think babcock would be that dumb, we were probably gonna see them soon or later. But i was in relief when i saw Danny Granger's pic in front of The Raptors main page.
I knew they would come in for a workout, but I decided to post this so people who were doubting Babcock would bring them in would see that wasn't the case.
For those who haven't heard it yet, download the .mp3 file with Rob Babcock speaking about Danny Granger. Apparently he's been on their radar screen since last season (when Babcock and co. took over).
It is looking more and more likely that Granger will be selected ahead of our #7 pick. If that happens then Raymond Felton will probably drop down to our pick. I'm kind of torn on that selection. I think that at #16 we can grab a very serviceable point guard in Ukic or Jack.
Definitely. There's rumours that Jack will be gone at 10 to the Lakers but that's a stretch.. Even if we can't get Jack, Ukic will be just fine for the 16th pick.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting og15:</div><div class="quote_post">^ Do you think Jack will be available at 16th?</div>It actually looks like the Lakers are making a major push for the Blazers 3rd pick. Apparently the offer on the board is Caron Butler, Atkins and the 10 pick for the 3rd pick and some other Blazers. If that happens then I definitely think Jack will drop down to #16. But in the case that Felton was already picked up by the Raptors, would you still want Jack or Ukic? I would still want Ukic just because of his size and ability to play the shooting guard position. IF Villanueva, Warrick, Wright, and McCants are gone by that pick then I would definitely pick up Ukic. BTW Gerald Green is definitely a possibility at #7 as well. If we pick him up then a solid point guard like Ukic or Jack will be available almost guaranteed.
Babcock says there's a few guys that he really likes...One of them is obviously Granger, and I hope the others are Webster, Green, Graham and Felton. At the 7th spot, I would really like to select Granger/Green/Webster if any of them are on the board. At the 16th spot, thier won't be any wing players who can compare to these guys...you might have McCants and Ellis or someone but they aren't comparable to these guys. Some people want us to select Felton with our 7th pick if he's on the board, however, down the road, I can see a Granger/Webster-Ukic/Jack combination being better than a Felton-McCants/Ellis/Garcia combo.

In addition, the PG situation can be resolved by signing a FA - Jay Williams / Omar Cook for example - or even in the second round of the draft if for some reason, although I highly doubt it, Ukic / Jack are gone before 16. People who were outraged when Babcock traded Vince, don't look now but look after the start of this upcoming season and the 06-07 season, and look very carefully. It is because of that trade that we will be able to grab two very good players in this draft instead of just one, and it is also because of the trade that we will get some major cap-relief after next season. For once, I think this club is finally starting to get its head turned towards the right direction.
Yea, at the start I really wanted to draft a pg.. but now, I'm hearing so many good things about Granger, and now people are saying he'll be going higher than 7th, which I think is a huge blow to our organzation. We can easily get a quality PG at the 16th pick, but there will be no quality swingmen left around there. This draft is really geting me excited..
It's alright, if Granger is indeed gone that means either Webster, Green or Wright will be available and I won't have any problem with any of them at 7.
true...i dont think the top 3 pgs will be at the raptors because in this year's draft, everybody in the lottery seems to want a pg...
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting VinKanaddy:</div><div class="quote_post">It's alright, if Granger is indeed gone that means either Webster, Green or Wright will be available and I won't have any problem with any of them at 7.</div> Although Wright has performed well in tryouts, I'm not really too sure about him. I question his athleticsm after the results were out. His vert' was only 29.5...My vertical is 5 inches higher and I'm not even fully grown yet nor am I a super athlete. The bigs and non-athletic (you would think) players had higher verts than him.
I read that too, but we'll see what's the deal with that after he works out @ ACC. I bet the reporters are going to ask him something in regards to his poor performance in physical tests.
If Granger is drafted at 6 that would be Felton would be available to us wouldn't it??? That'd be sweet, although I'd rather have Granger Felton is reallll nice...
