i know there has been a lot of talk with the lakers sending slava and george to indy for bender and pick #17, but it's false. i don't know who came up with the whole trade but it's false. it's not happening. here's what i found at pacers.com which denies all rumors. source:http://www.nba.com/pacers/news/question_050620.html The story is not accurate. Franchise CEO Donnie Walsh was unequivocal in his dismissal of that particular trade report. No such discussions are taking place, and there's nothing on the table with the Lakers. Though Bender has gone through two nightmarish years with injuries, there's little reason for the Pacers to trade him because there is little to gain by doing so. Bender's trade value is minimal because of his history of injuries. The franchise has invested quite a bit of time (and money) in Bender, to that point that it would be counterproductive to give up on him now. Whatever the odds Bender will find a way to get healthy, stay healthy and become a productive NBA player, the Pacers are willing to stay in the game and keep rolling the dice because they know the potential payoff is worth the risk.
Pincus has been screaming this to the hills for the last 3mnths. their is no way that this gets as far as it does and it not be legit. I want to go on record and say I HATE these trades. Maglore,Brown and Bender are injury prone. I hate to be negative about it but why take the chance on 3 injury bug dudes, I could get with the Bender trade because the 17th pick would be great to go along with the 10th. Don't let me start on Gerald Green....this dude...man...I. Whatever.
GM's always deny rumors, so don't believe the deal is dead just yet. This rumor has been floating around since the season ended for Laker fans, I have a feeling it's been a done deal and both sides are just waiting to announce it on draft day.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting hungi1115:</div><div class="quote_post">if we get bender our bench would be much better</div> You forgot ... "and he can stay healthy." If the Lakers do pull off this trade I don't think Bender is in the long term plans for the Lakers. They will either package him in another deal this year, or trade him next season when he has an expiring contract. With Bender's and Grant's contracts expiring at the same time, the Lakers will have $21Million to trade around and hopefully land one or two quality players.
Id say Forget Bender and Just make a Trade with Indy like this... Ron Artest for George, Walton atkins or whatever..... whatever works, they get some depth and we dump some SF's for one of the top 3 SF's in the game.
LOL, Artest for George, Atkins and Walton? Sorry man, but that's one of the stupidest trades I've ever heard of.
? <div class="quote_poster">Quoting Bobcats:</div><div class="quote_post">LOL, Artest for George, Atkins and Walton? Sorry man, but that's one of the stupidest trades I've ever heard of.</div> It can't be worse than Shaq for Grant, Odom and Butler
