Any1 else think that igoudala is getting far too much hype for not actually proving anything? he can obviously run and defend his man extremely well but he has no jumper at all,is a shaky dribbler(very high carriage, palms a lot),cannot create his own shot and only has the fg% he has because his points come off of alley oops/breakaway dunks
he is onyl a rookie and has time to improve in all of those areas, he is a very exciting player who will make an impact in the league one day.

If anything he is underrated. Honestly this topic doesn't deserve a reply. He was a point guard in high school so his handle is good despite what you say, and he has already proved that his shot is underrated itself. Name one thing he cannot do, he is the most versatile rookie in his class and is a top-notch defender. He is also consistent look at his stats; he played every game of the year for the 76ers proving his durability.
Ya I agree if anything hes underated He can defend any player in the league, hez nastiest dunker in the nba, and brings that energy to his team. Plus his 3 shot aint that bad either.
Definitely not. You say his handles and jumper aren't that good- well then you'd better watch some games. Over the summer and season, he drastically improved his shooting so you really can't complain about that. Yeah, Dre played point guard in high school and has decent handles- not phenomenal, of course not Iverson, but it gets him by. If anything, he's underrated. He doesn't just play great defense, but also knows how to assist teammates as well. From rebounding to steals to assists to scoring, his game is solid. In fact, he was seventh in the league for triple doubles. Is that overrated to you?
I think Iggy is underrated as well...I love his athleticism, passing and defense...he does need a more consistent jumper, but its nowhere near god-awful...he's going to end up being a special player for the Sixers, and the nucleus of Dalembert (if resigned)-Iverson-AI2 and their young players, Green and Korver, sets forth a really solid foundation...
<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">he can obviously run and defend his man extremely well </div> With the exception of Artest, Bowen, Christie and few others tell me how many others players you can say that about. And to top that off, he's more atheltic than every single one of them. But for the most part, I don't think Iguodala has reached the point where you can label him as a underrated/overrated player. He's more of a very, very solid rookie and out last years draft I say he's easily the best all around player. If anything, a player at his caliber you can say that's he's underappreciated. We hear about Emeka, Gordon and Howard all the time, but in my opinoin Iguodala is just one step behind them and that's particually because he has a superstar player on his team (Iverson) and that holds him back some. So basically, if you take Iverson out the picture he could have very well been R.O.Y. He was already getting considered for it even though he wasnt going to win so just imagine if he had the opportunity to excel like the other star rookies. But everything aside, to say the Iguodala is overrated is insane.
This guys just turned 21 not to long ago finishing up a pretty successful rookie season. The defense is will make him a future all-star in this league. So far this year he had to guard the best in VC, T'Mac, Lebron, Kobe, Wade, Ginobli, Hamilton, Pierce, Finely, etc. That is a pretty tough challenge for a young buck like him. I think the 2 major things he needs to work on in the off season is his 3 point shot and creating his own shot.
he also got a triple double this season. how many rookies in their rookie years get a triple double? not many. and no, I disagree. he isn't over-rated, he's under-rated. I mean, the nba didn't even invite him to participate in the dunk contest.
Expect even bigger things from Dre next season. He will be working on his game this summer, his off-season game in particular. Andre Iguodala said himself that the 76ers put together a video of players on offense for Andre to study; the players were Kobe, Rip, and Gil. What they want him to develop is a more consistent jumper, and they want him to have a go to move. I guess that means we will see a lot more of Iggs on the offensive end next season.
Im going with everyone else he is underrated, he can do everything he is going to be a great player and future DPOY. Go Iggy!!
Andre Igoudala is a obviously a great dunker. He makes some insane dunks and is extremely gifted and should enter a dunk contest. He is also a great defender and that is a part of his game that is often overlooked. He is defensive stopper and he will only improve as become more experienced. I think in a few years Iggy will be a star and will be one of the most exciting players in the NBA.
In my opinion Igoudala is anything, but overrated. I did not read this entire thread, so am not sure if this was said, but he was the only rookie in the NBA to get a triple double last season. One of the huge question marks for Andre when we drafted him was his three point shooting ability. Which was something he really struggled with in Arizona. He improved that big time this season in my opinion. Really making some clutch ones against Detroit. At times swinging the momentum into the 76ers favor. Another thing is people look at him as a player who does not have great range yet. However, we forget when Lebron came in last year despite his great ability his jumper was anything, but consistant. These are things that improve over time. Also Andre is in my opinion our version of Tayshaun Prince. He is our best defender, has long arms, and often guards the other teams best player.

Not in anyway form is he overrated. But I do agree with Avery that it may be too early to tell, but he`s a very talented rookie who didn`t have much spotlight.
I say he's underrated too. He doesn't get any shine if you ask me. He has a lot of potential and his future is looking good. He's very far from overrated.
