Online Article about Baron Davis http://www.hoopsvibe.com/basketball-article-13661.html <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Telling Baron Davis's story is a joy, a pleasure, and an honor for me to relate in this feature on his personal side outside of basketball. Because for as much game as he has on the court, his game off the court is as strong as any I've ever seen, period. Sitting in the Santa Monica Community College gym rapping with B-Davis on a mellow Tuesday in early August you see the kids at his camp are learning b-ball techniques and morals galore, and everyone is having a good time. I talk to Baron's former Crossroads high school coach named Daryl Roper who also used to teach him back in the day as a youngster, in our conversation he gives out an image of Davis as someone who started caring about people at an early age, "Baron has been a giver since the age of 13, he even turned in a paper to me as an 8th grader on his own that laid out this ornate plan to help all types of people in his life, Baron is just an 'old soul', that special someone who just spreads joy and knows their purpose in life is to make a difference for others."</div> <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Baron i know this is so cheesy but you're so HOT. oh yea besides that you're an excellent b-ball player. I remember being embarassed to wear Warriors jerseys of any kind.
Baron Davis seems like a great person. And the way he turned around the warriors last season was amazing.
He's been great even while injured, but I wonder how long this will last if he ever gets unhappy or doesn't get his way like Jkidd or Steve Francis. I'd like to think fans haven't forgotten about J-Rich because he's a good player, never fusses or whines, and will go the extra mile to get better or to show off in front of fans. But then again, it's the point guard or the big man that gets the franchise moving. It's hardly ever the 2-guard that ever gets things done for a franchise unless it's an MJ with a Scottie Pippen. Kobe couldn't do it alone. T-Mac couldn't either.
Davis appears to be a godsend for the Warriors...I think the Warriors will definitely be playoff contenders this season...but he gives them an identity and a franchise-type player in which they can build around...

Without a good playmaker or player that can get people open by moving the ball, the team is basically the team before the last season's trade deadline (Very static on offense, same lack of defense).
I think next season with Baron Davis playing with the Warriors for the whole season, if he stays healthy he will take them to the playoffs no doubt. Hey theres a possibility he mite even do what nash did last season.
Good Read. If only they kept Arenas. I got pissed when the didnt resign Arenas. The Warrior's GM was an idiot.

The Warrior's GM was an idiot.</div> It's a common misconception that the Warriors GM (Gary St. Jean) didn't do anything to re-sign Gilbert Arenas, but the truth is he could not be re-signed unless he wanted the league minimum in order to stay. Gilbert Arenas was an unrestricted free agent because he was selected in the 2nd round in the 2001 draft (non-guaranteed contracts usually come with unrestricted free agent status when their two year contract ends). Because Areas was unrestricted, this meant that no matter what the offer was, the Warriors couldn't match because they were over the cap and the "bird rights" rule didn't apply so that they could re-sign Arenas despite being over the cap. The new collective bargaining rules for the next six years now allow 2nd rounders to have "bird rights" so the drafting team could have a chance to re-sign their own player as if they were a first rounder, but still have the ability to not guarantee contracts. Ironically, it's being called the Gilbert Arenas Rule or Carlos Boozer Rule.

How sad is that? Dave Twardzick, the current acting general manager for the Orlando Magic, was the GM that just ruined it for the Warriors. St. Jean at least drafted well, but Twardzick was a guy that couldn't build a team through the draft, couldn't build it through free agency, and did some dumb trades that made the team mediocre and boring to watch for years to come. Then the Warriors still didn't have a franchise player or have any leverage to sign reasonable contracts with St. Jean/Mullin. At least we have Baron and Jrich. I'm glad they kept Jrich. Even if we lose, Jrich is still exciting to watch almost like a Vince Carter.
