I was looking back with the Finals going on this year.... An couldn't help but wonder what could have been in 97.... What it could have ment for Allen Iverson if David Robinson had not got hurt an the Sixers had landed the #1 slot an not the #2 slot where they drafted Keith Van Horn an missed out on Tim Duncan. How many championships would Allen an Tim have at this point an what our team may look like now if that was the case.. I would asume we would of never got Iggy but would prolly have 2-3 Championships. How would Allen be looked apon in the game. Keith Van Horn a bust but average journey man type player who can get you his pts. Or a future Hall of Fame PF an some say one of the best PF ever..
I think everything would be different i dont think anybody in the nba world would think of Iverson as a bad teamate, and the AI, duncan combo would certainly bring about 2-3 championships to philly.
Iverson dosent seem to play very well with other superstars. Although it would all depend on how they played together. I think they would have probably one some chapionships though.
wow, if they got duncan, the sixers would be a power house. they probably would have won at least one championship together. but you still have to think, would an AI and Tim Duncan duel be better than Shaq and Kobe? the world may never know.
It depends, AI was definiltey a hard player to coach back then so you have to question if it would have worked between Duncan and Allen. BUt the first thought that comes to mind is what if.
Also, what if they had picked up Tracy McGrady. Iverson and McGrady would have been sick and I think they would each have a championship or two under their belts.
I do not think it would have ended up well with Tim and Allen together early in there careers. As AI has shown the past few seasons he has matured, but remember when there was the Stackhouse/AI combo they were both great players at the time (remember this was Jerry before all the injuries) . However, they could not get along, because both wanted shots, and niether was willing to back down, and admit to the other being number one, and one of them being number two. I think if we had indeed drafted Duncan the best bet is he would not have lasted with the 76ers orginization. Although, we will never know that is just my opinion. I also do not think Duncan would have become the player he is today. He would not have gotten a chance to learn under one of the NBA greatest big men ever in David Robinson. Or really establish himself as early in his career as he did with the Spurs.
We would've never got Duncan,he said he wanted to go to San Antonio and I belive he would've gone to somewhere else if San Antonio would've not been in the lottery. Sixers would've drafted KVH or traded Duncan for future 1st rounder.
