    I've heard it all.

Everybody seems to have an opinion about whom the Warriors should select next Tuesday with the No.9 pick in the NBA Draft, so here is mine for Chris Mullin and Co.:

    Draft Nate Robinson.

Forget about all the big men in this draft and take the smallest guy available, the guard from Washington generously listed at 5-foot-9 who was taunted by the Oregon student section because he looks like Gary Coleman.

    For real.

Right about now, you're probably thinking I'm loonier than Screech Powers on a sugar high. I mean, what a dumb idea. Why waste a lottery pick on a player who potentially could be available in the second round, right?

Well, in the immortal words of Jules Winnfield, allow me to retort.

Of all the players in this draft, Nate the Great is the closest thing there is to a sure thing.

Will Robinson be an all-star? Shoot, I don't think he'll ever be a full-time starter, but that is irrelevant.

Robinson is the Earl Boykins for the next generation, a pint-sized dynamo who buzzes up and down the court for 20-25 minutes a game at 150 mph and dunks over players nearly a foot and a half taller than he.

If you knew you were getting a potential sixth man of the year and a guaranteed fan favorite who will electrify the Arena crowd every night, why would you not take him?

Would you rather have another Cliff Rozier? </div>

    Nate Robinson at #9?

Sounds good. We'll even trade up for him too by throwing in our 2006 and 2007 future first rounds + Pietrus. [IMG]

I couldn't read that article without thinking of the following quote from Austin Powers:

    Casino Dealer: :5.
    Austin Powers: I'll stay.
Casino Dealer: I suggest you hit, sir.
Austin Powers: I also like to live dangerously.
Casino Dealer: 20 beat your 5 sir. I'm sorry, sir.
Austin Powers: Well I must admit, cards aren't my bag, baby.

I understand his point but it would still be a very bad move. If theres a possibility he could be there in the 2nd round, why draft him with the 9th pick in the 1st round.

Speaking of illegal substances, anybody see the latest Warrior web advertisment that has Baron Davis saying, "we need to buy season tickets before the Warriors start winning and they'll all gone"? He sounded like he was totally blunted. His eyelids were all half open and he was talking kind of slowly and relaxed. I wouldn't be suprised if Baron tests positive for herb.

What about "imaginary girlfriend"? Ah, you know I'm kidding!

I'm not sure what the writer means about a "sure thing" in Nate Robinson. If Nate Robinson had TJ Ford or Sebastian Telfair ability to find people on the court for assists, he'd probably go higher. The guy is like a combo guard. He's got a nice pull up J and all, great quickness, mad hops, is a pesky defender but I don't know how good his playmake skills are to be at least a first round bubble. Some people will just write crazy just to get attention and stand out and get people talking like we are now about how crazy this guy is.

It's just not news or even remotely credible...

Like I said in another thread, I like Nate a lot and I'd love to get him with one of the second round picks, but it's a waste to take him at #9.

btw Custodian (and everyone else) I came across this site not too long ago (someone posted it on one of the blogs I read) it's the greatest idea ever:

    http://www.imaginarygirlfriends.com/

(make sure you browse the various "girlfriends")

I showed it to my girlfriend and she said she's going to apply, I'll let you know if she gets on there.

haven't found an imaginary little brother site though...

</div> Definitely. #9 was supposed to be satirical but the guy acted like he was serious.

I heard the Warriors are paying $45 per 2 month period on a similar website at http://www.imaginarydefense.com for Troy Murphy to pretend to block imaginary shots and lock down imaginary players in the post a la 3-time NBA defensive player of the year, Ben Wallace.

    REAL PLAYERS, IMAGINARY DEFENSE!
