According to multiple reports on Milwaukee radio and TV, Terry Porter has been fired as Bucks head coach....

They must have someone ready to take over, because 6 days before the #1 pick?

    Flip? Silas?

WOW! I feel bad for Terry Porter, he's getting a raw deal after the Bucks landed the #1 pick and had a nice future ahead of them. My guess is Flip Saunders will be named the new head coach.

I bet the Trailblazers are already on the phone with him.

That's kind of unfair to Terry Perter. His starting PG hasn't played in a year and a half, and his "superstar" isn't even a superstar. They should give him a year or two to get players who he can work with. Maybe he'll land a good assistant job.

He got them to the playoffs when everyone was healthy, so I don't get why he's getting fired now.

Bucks are after Flip and McMillan as the replacement. It should get interesting if the Bucks get McMillan. It could lead to bringing in Ray Allen and Antonio Daniels via free agency. Dez Mason reunites with his former teammates.

The only raw part about it was he was told he was coming back, then is fired.....

The must know now they can get someone, that they couldn't before.

Terry wasn't that good of a coach, his team had no clue on D, and his rotations were just flat out whacky.

Joe Smith would have 10 pts 9 boards in the first quarter, and play 2 minutes max in quarter 2...

Redd would sit out most of the 3rd when he was hot.

Terry didn't get a raw deal, they want a more experienced coach to go with the exciting future of this team

TP has a really good shot at the Blazers' job, the team that drafted him.
He's a very good coach. He just didn't have players in Miluawkee.

Do you see this move effecting their draft decision?

Assuming they get Nate or Flip, which player fits better in their system? If it's Nate, I think Marvin Williams fits better than Bogut, because Marvin could play a similar role to Rashard Lewis.

If it's Flip then I can see them going for Bogut.

I think Mike Iovaroni got the Blazers job. I've never even heard of him. I would love him to coach in Portland with all of the young talent that we have.

People think Porter is a good coach....what has shown you that he is?

He is a terrible Xs and Os coach, and obviously you guys didn't watch the terrible basketball that was played by the Bucks last year

Iavaroni was the assistant coach in Phoenix last year.

Gmanspack, I agree, Porter is not a great X's & O's coach, but what makes him good IMO, is the way he gets the most out of his players. He will eventually develop his X's & O's, but right now he's relatively new to the position of head coach. I guess he would be labeled as a 'Player's Coach' at this point. Last year the team took a lot of hits to their roster through injuries and losing guys like Damon Jones, Brevin Knight, and Brian Skinner to free agency. The team was gutted from the 41-41 record they accomplised the season before that. Plus they didn't have Keith Van Horn, Tim Thomas (no love loss there), and gave up on Joel Przybilla too, early.

I'm shocked as well, and I remember Michael Redd saying how he was glad that they were keeping Porter around...I wonder if this will have any affect on his decision...and I also agree that he was given a bad deal by management, especially after an injury-riddled season, and after losing so many key players from the 04 playoff run...

    WHAT THE HELL?
    [IMG] [IMG] [IMG] [IMG] [IMG]

Ok, let me start by saying that Terry Porter is not a great coach. He isn't a remarkable game coach. Now let me rant.

TERRY PORTER WORKED HIS A** OFF THE LAST 2 YEARS IN MILWAUKEE, TRIED TO GET HIS BOYS TO FIGHT THROUGH INJURIES, EVEN GETTING A VERY AVERAGE TEAM TO THE PLAYOFFS IN HIS FIRST YEAR. HE HAD HEART, AND HE WAS A GOOD GUY, TWO TRAITS THAT, SADLY, ARE IN VERY SHORT SUPPLY IN TODAY'S NBA. I AM SO PISSED OFF THAT WE FIRED HIM AFTER WE SAID WE'D KEEP HIM, AFTER WE GOT HIM THE #1 PICK AFTER HE WORKED HIS A** OFF TO FIELD A COMPETATIVE TEAM DESPITE LITTLE HELP FROM THE OWNERSHIP AND CONSTANT INJURIES/PLAYER TURNOVER. HE GOT SO SCREWED, AND I FEEL BAD AS HELL FOR MR. PORTER TONIGHT. WHAT THE HELL. THIS IS HOW YOU TREAT A GUY? HE WORKS HARD, YOU GET LUCKY AND GIVE HIM THE SHOT TO BUILD A CONTENDER, THEN YOU STAB HIM IN THE BACK AS SOON AS A SLIGHTLY BETTER OPTION PRESENTS ITSELF? WHAT THE HELL? I AM THROROUGHLY ASHAMED OF HOW THE BUCKS SCREWED TERRY. THIS REALLY PISSES ME OFF. HE DESERVED BETTER THAN THIS. DAMN!

shape, mel, guys, I'm sorry for that. I tried to self censor a bit but I know that's probably still out of line. If it's too offensive, feel free to delete whatever parts are too much. I am really, really mad right about now and that's my initial reaction. sorry guys [IMG]

Edited -- Sorry to hear the news myself on Porter. Shapecity

Bucks managment just didn`t give him a chance, and I wish him the best in his future, I hope to see him around as a head or assistant coach.

Well hopefully he gets a fair shot at the Portland job. He is said to be one of the leading canidates for the head coaching spot. Do not neccessarly know if that is a good or bad thing for him considering all the characters they have down in Portland. Though Porter played for the Blazers as a player so I think he would be excited to go there.

You guys are overreacting, it is a business, Porter may become a good coach, but seriously, who fought through injuries? All I saw was about 4 guys at a time in street clothes on the bench.

I don't care if he busted his butt for the Bucks...production is production....

I'll be pissed if they don't get Flip, Silas, or McMillian...but you guys overrate Porter at this time.

He is not a good coach right now, he may become one, but this team, city, and the ageing senator want and need to win this coming year, and don't have the time to wait for Porter to develop.
