And yet another twist takes place on the NBA coaching carousel. Strong rumours suggest their top two choices are Nate and Flip Saunders. Can anyone picture Nate going to Milwaukee, Redd walking and Ray following his coach to his former stomping ground? Interesting times ahead for sure.
Terry Porter seemed like a good, young coach. The Bucks had a lot of injuries last year and absolutely no frontline to speak of. Now granted I know nothing of what went on over there last year, but it seems like another BS move by Senator Kohl (sp?) Porter made them respectable his first year from the team that George Karl left in a shambles - I heard the biggest change was getting accountability on defense, instead of all that trapping and switching he had them pull up their panties and play their man straight up. As far as Nate going to the Bucks, he'd be reunited with Des as well as bringing Ray with him. Plus either Bogut or Marvin Williams to build around. Not to shabby it'd be Sonics East (err..Midwest)
Coaches in this game are hired to be fired. It will be interesting to see if T-Port will ever get another head coaching position again. Most black coaches aren't truly given an opportunity to fail--the recent exceptions being Paul Silas, Mo' Cheeks, and Nate McMillan -- (and to an extent Bernie Bickerstaff). Most black coaches that get fired become life long assistants. Not to suggest that this firing was at all racially motivated (b/c it wasn't), but it seems odd that Milwaukee would choose a week before the draft to fire their coach when they had the first pick. I don't know if the acquisition of Bogut is going to make that job unbelievably attractive to a big name coach. I think that the "fire to hire" theory applies to Senator Kohl.
Don't really see any logic behind this. I'm guessing this has to do with the first pick...Harris might of wanted to select someone, and Porter wanted to select the other and things escalated. Just a theory.
I'll tell you who I think will probably never get a head coaching opportunity - Bob McAdoo. First off I have to say I have no idea what he's all about as a coach, or if he even has aspirations to be the #1 guy. I do know he's been on the bench for Miami for several years - I think under Riley and now Van Gundy. Plus, he was the most glaring omission IMO on the 50 greatest players list. I believe he has an MVP or two and a ring with the Lakers. 30-15 for an entire season ain't no joke. Now I get the feeling he'll get the shaft again from owners/GM's looking for a coach. He's probably too quiet and doesn't fit the mold - even as far as black coaches are concerned. Hell if Iavaroni can get a job for sitting on the bench of a winning team, Big Mac is certainly as qualified, if not moreso.
Oh yeah, on ESPN.com it says Porter contacted Portland about their vacancy. Firing him at this time pretty much ruled him out as a candidate for the Minny, Portland etc job. BS.

He would have been a great chance to fill one of the vacancies around the league if he'd been terminated earlier, now he's left in no man's land. Will probably get a gig broadcasting games for someone.
