<div class="quote_poster">Quoting MrJ:</div><div class="quote_post">The pick is for next year though so you guys are good.</div> Yea I know, I was just reffering to how they could've gotten big via draft rather than via trade. They still can, but this way, they would of kept the starting 5 last year in place and/or use Q as trade bait in a better deal.
Man... Q was without doubt one of my favourite players on the suns. Why... it's not fair I will be so disapointed if the suns don't make it as far as they did 04-05 season next season. I am now a bigger fan of the knicks now Q's there hopefully they will have success with him. I guess he feels like franchise did when he was dealt to orlando. Nevermind its a business life goes on
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting MrJ:</div><div class="quote_post">You guys loved him this much? I thought he was just a one-dimensional chucker?</div> His role in Phoenix was to bomb away, but he's much more than just a one-dimensional player. However, at the money he makes and for what his role was the Suns could find a cheaper option. I'm curious to see how the Knicks use Q-Rich next season. He's a load inside the paint and has a strong post game. He's also a strong offensive rebounder, but so far he hasn't had a chance to use those skills much as a Clipper or Sun. I like this deal a lot for the Suns because it gives them some balance and a defensive presence inside. Even though Thomas cannot run the floor like Hunter or Dalembert, he doesn't really need to. Thomas can focus on grabbing rebounds and defense, and with QRich gone, Marion and Amare can fly down the wing to finish the breaks. Kurt Thomas protects Amare from having to guard the opposing teams PF or C and play weakside defense. He also takes pressure off Amare to grab rebounds. Thomas can also hit mid range jumpers so he can extend his man on defense to allow Amare more freedom to work inside. The Suns are going to be right back in the mix next season. The Spurs will probably be their only obstacle, so adding Kurt Thomas gives them a player who can bang inside with Tim Duncan, and force Duncan or one of the centers to actually guard against a big man with a perimeter shot. There are better options than Kurt Thomas, but not many teams would be willing to pay QRich's contract. I'm sure they shopped him around, but the only other teams I could see interested and willing to bite would be Dallas or Portland.
omfg, the knicks must be high on crack or something. they already have alot of sgs'on their team. why the hell would they wanna do this trade. they wont even have a center now
I think this trade gives the Suns more flexibility with their gameplan. Just because they work best as a transition team doesn't mean that should be their entire game. Adding Thomas gives them more depth and a couple lineups that would make them less predictable. Worst case scenario he'd only help the team guard dominant bigs in the West. But I think he's going to do the dirty work for this team. Does this deal give the Suns any more flexibility on signing Joe Johnson?
KT would be best suited when It comes to the Spurs. He is a big man who is a very good rebounder, is a good help defender and from what I have seen of him, will not let you get easy lay-up after lay-up. He will at least contest you even If It has no effect on the play. He will at least try. He is maybe the best mid range shooting big man in the NBA. He is simply money from 15-18 feet. He is great at the pick and roll which Nash loves to run. He gives Amare another big man to work with inside and take some of the pressure off of Amare. Thomas will open things up for Amare even more. It's also not as If they can't replace Q's long range shooting through free-agency. There are plenty of guys out there who would fit the Suns offense and want to play there. Kurt is the kind of guy the Suns needed this year

Houston played 20 games this season, Hardaway played 37. Houston willprobably get waived or something with the new CBA rules. Penny and Tim have expiring contracts so they?re most likely gone.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting da pimp 1:</div><div class="quote_post">Didn't you read the thread, It's Qrich for Kurt Thomas and a conditional first round pick</div> It is, which is why I'm confused at the people in this thread who think the Knicks are getting pick 21. The Knicks give the first rounder, not recieve it.

Great trade for Phoenix...they get an intimidating, 6'9" PF who can hit 15-18 footers and rebound...him and Stoudemire will be an imposing frontline...dunno what NY was thinking, they are stacking up on a bunch of swingmen...Q-Rich is athletic and can score in the post and from the arc, but he only will stunt Ariza's growth...not only that, but the Knicks also gave up a conditional 1st-rounder! IMO, Q-Rich is an inconsistent scorer and a great rebounder...he lacks defensively and is a subpar passer, so I cant imagine why NY would feel that he is worth this much...
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting shapecity:</div><div class="quote_post">No the Suns give up a conditional pick to the Knicks according to ESPN's story.</div> So the Suns give up Q AND a first rounder and the best they can do in return is a 33 year old FC? Surely not.
Okay listen up. First of all this really happened. Second, Q makes more than Kurt and has a longer contract. The East Valley Tribune said that the Suns saved $16 mil. for future cap space, and that really helps because you never know what a business man like Sarver would do if he went over the cap. Now, Q really killed us. He goes on stretches of 15+ games were he can't shoot at all, but he keeps taking his shots. After a while I got sick of it. Q only averaged 4 more points than Kurt! Kurt gives us more rebounds, better defense, and a good presence inside which is what we really needed in the playoffs. Hopefully we can re-sign Hunter and have him as the starting center. He played great defense in the playoffs and for the most part in the season. We really need him, but he is asking for a lot of money. They may persuade him to ask for less since he has a good shot a a championship here... Anyway, I think Kurt would be a very good back-up, and I've heard it both ways but if it's the Suns that get the pick they definetly won this. The Knicks aren't going to be that good so it will be a nice pick next year. Lastly I would like to thank the Knicks for taking the huge contracts of Hardaway, Marbury, and Richardson off our hands. I love you New York. [Edit] BTW New York has no center anymore except for Bruno Sundov who is a free agent. That's another reason why we got the better deal.

firstly <div class="quote_poster">Quoting hungi1115:</div><div class="quote_post">omfg, the knicks must be high on crack or something. they already have alot of sgs'on their team. why the hell would they wanna do this trade. they wont even have a center now</div> First off Kurt wasnt a real center anyways. Second, yes now they have 5 SG / SFs (Crawford, Penny, Ariza, Houston, TT) but Houston and Penny are injury prone and by the trading deadline both Penny and TT will be traded.
