<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">New York Daily News: "The inevitable is close to becoming reality as the Knicks agreed to trade Thomas, their starting power forward, to the Phoenix Suns for small forward Quentin Richardson and a conditional first-round pick"</div> <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">New York Post: " The Knicks and Suns have agreed in principle to their second trade in 17 months, with Kurt Thomas being shipped to Phoenix for 6-6 swingman Quentin Richardson and a protected, future first-round pick."</div> That's is where I heard the reports. But it still doesn't say anything. I know I saw something saying the Suns get a pick. Maybe I read it wrong.
<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">The Arizona Republic is reporting that the Suns have acquired power forward Kurt Thomas from the New York Knicks for swingman Quentin Richardson. <div class="quote_poster">Quoting ArizonaRecruite:</div><div class="quote_post">No one knows. </div> Guess will just have to wait & see. Should know in a couple of days.
The Knicks want assurance on Quentin Richardson's health before acquiring him from the Suns in exchange of Kurt Thomas, according to the New York Times
^Yeah, he had some back problems or something. The weird thing is I heard he's had it when he was a Clipper too. Hopefully he can be healthy.
i think this is not a bad trade for phoenix. KT will add much needed muscle inside and free up space for amare. i think that phx has great chance of signeing another star in this league such as finley or payton (if finley really gets axed)
Well right now the trade is hold because the Knicks aren't sure about Q's back. Which is why the Suns might be sending them a 1st Round Pick. After I think about it the trade does help both teams & the Suns being clutterd at the 2 & 3 anyway this trade helps them in alot of ways.
I'm not very sure about this trade, the suns need a "center" that can play the up-tempo style of play. Kurt Thomas is a 33 year old "power foward" at 6'9, which makes him even shorter that Stoudemire. In this case the Phoenix Suns would allow other teams to pound on them at the Center Position. Kurt Thomas in my opinion can't put up with the big centers in the league.
That's why he should come off the bench and we should have Hunter as the center. Kurt would be a very good back-up at either position.
I guess the Suns are going to re-sign JJ but this is a so-so trade because Q-Rich is a pretty good player but than the get some cap room so overall say it is a good trade for the Suns if they re-sign JJ, now the Knicks have like 3 or 4 high paid shooting guards.
Q-rich can play the SF and thats what he'll play. i agree that Houston and Hardaway need to go. a huge waste of money for an injured player and a hasbeen. The knicks do lose a solid player that puts up 10-10 every night. They do have a solid backup. They already have 4 pf's so the trade doesnt hurt much. It also paves the way for an emerging star in Sweetney. That saying PHX is losing alot. A player who led the league in 3pt's made. They lose their deep threat but they do start JJ who can put up good numbers. I wouldnt be surprised if he averaged around 20. KT-40 can compete with the PF'S A C'S in the west. He's an outside shooter who doesnt get many O reb's. He also isnt very mobil, which is exactly what PHX is. I think NYK gets the better half.
I don't think Q-Rich led the league in 3-pointers made. I think he led in 3-pointers taken. He took 600+ 3's and made 200 something. He was so inconsistent. I am very happy he is leaving. I hear on the Arizona Sports Report that the Suns get the pick. We are just going to have to wait and see once this is final.

Teams are really interested in KT-40.
^Yeah, you're right. It all depends on today: <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">If Quentin Richardson passes his physical today, thus resolving insurance concerns about his back, it's likely the Knicks' trade sending power forward Kurt Thomas to Phoenix for Richardson and a future first-round draft choice will become official.</div> Newsday
I'm not very sure about this trade, i want to Suns to go after Tyson Chandler or Free agent Stromile Swift from Memphis. In addition, they can pick up the 7'0 Petro in the draft. That would give the Suns good dept on the 5 spot. Plus Steven Hunter is going to see what happens in the free agent market. He might not come back to the Suns.
^I think Tyson Chandler would be the perfect fit for this club. He can block shots, play defense and is more than athletic enough to run the floor and mesh with the Suns? offense. He is the ideal center they?ve been looking for to put everyone back in their rightful positions. The only problem is ? who would the Bulls be willing to give up? Chandler is a part of their core and has been impressive all season long and especially in the playoffs. It doesn?t seem as if the Suns can throw a type of player like Q at them and expect them to bite.
Well if Marion moves to smallforward? then thomas takes over at powerforward and there you go, i don't like q-rich much, he was terrible during the playoffs.
Please Q! Do something right this year and pass your physical! Da pimp, if we get Kurt we can still try to get Tyson with the $5 mil. exception and a little extra... Don't forget we aren't losing any money from this trade at all. We would be saving $16 mil. mostly in the last 2 years of Q's contract.
Well, the deal is official; the Knicks got Q, and the 21st pick (Nate Robinson). The Suns got Kurt Thomas and the 54th pick (Dijon Thompson). We'll see how the trade pans out. Interstingly enough, at the Knicks press conference, Q said: <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">?At first, I was surprised by the trade -- but now I can?t wait to go back to the style I love to play. I love to go down to the low post, use my power, use my versatility. In Phoenix, I was basically relegated to standing on the three-point line. That?s really not my style of basketball. I am much more than that. I have a lot more to offer than just stand there and shoot. Even though we were a winning team, it was extremely frustrating.?</div> How do Suns' fans feel about that comment?
