If It isn't a typo then I would imagine Caron Butler is also in the deal.

I have not heard or found any confirmation of this trade. I know Charlotte traded their 2nd round picks to the Lakers, so my guess is this is a typo. Trading up to 5 doesn't do much for the Lakers unless they think Deron or Paul is going to be available. I hate the idea of giving up Butler & #10 for Gerald Green.

Look at the backdrop behind Chris Mullin to the right of him.

Bobcats are the next spot behind the Warriors because you can see the faded logo.

Now these are my thoughts, but maybe Isiah Thomas is going hunting for Memphis' Lorenzen Wright. Maybe the Suns might make a play too for him. Doesn't have anything to do with the Lakers, but thought I'd bring it up.

Nice find CR2, I'm even more nervous now the Lakers have made a deal that makes them weaker.

If the trade involves Butler and the draft gets them Green/Felton/Vasquez, it might be a good thing.

How do they get those 3 guys? The trade is allegedly Butler, Cook, #10 for #5 and #13

I meant "either" when I put slashes between the names. Sorry for the miscommunication. The 5 pick could land the Lakers Vasquez or Green or Felton or maybe even Deron Williams. Who knows.

I'm hoping they go with Granger at #5 and pull a shocker with Bynum at #13.

I was thinking Granger would be a great fit, but what about Lamar Odom? And how cool would that be to have a T-mac like player running alongside Kobe with an Eddy Curry like player inside in Andrew Bynum or a pure point guard like Jarret Jack?

Granger will come off the bench until Phil is comfortable starting him. I think he's more appropriate to be the Scottie Pippen clone Phil is looking for. Granger works harder on defense than Odom does, but Granger doesn't have the handles Pippen had. If only they could put Granger's defensive intensity into Odom. I could see Phil Jackson experimenting with either play at PG, especially Granger. I think he's quick enough to stay in front of PGs in the league, and he'd be a matchup nightmare because he has a strong post game.

Bynum is boom or bust, but his boom is going to be a loud one if he commits to the game of basketball. He plays a physical style of basketball which I think is needed for a center. He doesn't try to shoot 3 pointers or jumpers, he looks for contact and his best of move his hammering dunks. From the reports I read, he has a high Bball IQ to go along with his physical presence. A great combination to have for any young player. With the new NBDL rules, this will benefit a player like Bynum, who the Lakers can develop there for a year.

How ironic would it have been for Charlotte to give up the rights to Gerald Green and he turns out to be a superstar ala Kobe Bryant?

I think becoming a superstar also depends on what team you first land in. If Gerald Green would go to the Lakers I doubt he could become one, but in the Bobcats there will be more opportunities for him.

Good thing the pick wasnt traded, hopefully noone steals Felton from us...
