<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Former Milwaukee Bucks coach Terry Porter told ESPN.com's Marc Stein on Thursday that he has contacted the Portland Trail Blazers in hopes of getting an interview for the Blazers' vacant coaching position.

"I've reached out to them," Porter said, one day after he was fired by the Bucks. "Obviously, with my history there, I would be very interested in trying to help them bring back the glory days."

And it appears that Porter's wishes will be granted. Various media outlets in Portland were reporting Thursday night that general manager John Nash has traded messages with Porter's agent and plans to bring the ex-Blazer in for an interview.

It's believed that Portland is prepared to offer its vacancy to Phoenix Suns assistant Marc Iavaroni if it cannot lure Seattle's Nate McMillan away from the rival Sonics. McMillan will not be able to speak to other interested clubs -- like Portland and Detroit -- until after his Seattle contact expires June 30, and now it appears that Nash will consider Porter as well as his chances of landing McMillan before making a hire. </div>

Porter does'nt bring anything new to the table,i highly recommend NOT to bring him as a head coach.
IMO he is just another coach who says "give the ball to the star!" in each timeout...

Plus all I'd see with this team is a fight for the 8th playoff spot and early round exit. PLEASE DONT SIGN HIM!!!

Terry needs time to develop as a coach, he is still very raw. Is Portland the situation where he can take 2-3 years to learn?

I'd rather have a more experienced coach who can develop Telfair, D-Miles, Randolph, and Outlaw. Look what Scott Skiles did for that rookie team

And to think that the Blazers had Rick adleman and Rick Carlisle in the orginazation yet never offered them any head coach jobs...

I dont think this would be a good fit for the team or in that case for Porter. I like Porter as a person, and wish him the best, but Portland would be nothing, but a head ache for him. He is a young coach who would be trying to control players like Darius Miles who have no respect for there head coach. While at the same time facing the pressure of turning around a orginization who has a high standard, and tends to blame the coach for all standards that are not met.

The market is not really very strong for the Blazers right now though. They are trying to get Nate, but there are more tempting offers for him with the Bucks openning (considering they have the 1st pick overall), and the Seattle job still a very possible location that he will return to. Then the othe rcoach they are targeting is Flip, but just like Nate there are other jobs that could either offer more money possibly or a better oppurtunity to win.

^ I agree, Porter would be annoyed as hell with Miles, and with players in Portland always getting in constant trouble. There will be better oppurtunities for Porter and the Blazers.
