VITALS: 5-9, 180, Washington OVERVIEW: Leading Washington in scoring for the third straight year, Robinson started all 35 games in his junior season, ranking sixth in the Pac-10 Conference with 16.4 points per game. He finished with 159 assists - the third-highest season total in Huskies history - and led the team with 61 assists this past season. The Most Outstanding Player in the Great Alaska Shootout this season, Robinson led Washington to a 29-6 record, tying the 67-year school record for most wins in a season. The Huskies also captured their first league tournament title and a top seed in the NCAA Tournament. LIKELY DRAFT POSITION: Robinson could go anywhere from 25, where Seattle knows his game very well, to 35, where Portland also has a firm grip on his skills. COMPARATIVE UPSIDE: No one like him. COMPARATIVE DOWNSIDE: No one like him. ROLE PROJECTION: A small, strong scoring point guard. POSITIVES: Robinson is the most unique athlete this size you will ever see play basketball. While he is short, he is a rolling ball of thunder going to the basket, where his amazing leaping ability propels him to the rim. He has decent point guard instincts, but his real mentality is as a scorer. He played defensive back at Washington as a freshman and brings that football mentality to the basketball court.
First of all, I have to say, great work on these capsules. Just one thing for Robinson, for comperative upside, how about a more athletic Earl Boykins? They both have similiar games IMO.

Earl Boykins would be the closest NBA player to Nate...but he's still nowhere near him. Nate is a one of a kind player, if he were a few inches taller he would be in top 5 talks with Chris Paul and Deron Williams. Nate uses his height to his advantage and shocks people with his athletic premise while staying low to the ground with lightning quick moves and physical defense. Whoever drafts Nate won't be disappointed...I just hope it's the Sonics.
Nate Robinson is pure energy. He can be a great spark plug of a bench. He could probably start in Atlanta or Charlotte if they take him. He will be a Athletic Earl Boykins though.
To me they are similiar. They are both pure energy, all heart, pesky on defense, pretty good passers and have good mid-range jumpshots. Only thing that I can think of that separates them is Boykins has more strength and NRob has amazing athleticism.
Nate Robinson has played in better competition in college ball though, Boykins played at Eastern Michigan if I'm right bout that I don't even know who's in their division. So Robinson is more proven in my eyes.
Ya, but it's unfair to say that Robinson hasn't proven himself because he's yet to be drafted. He played Salim Stoudamire, Mustafa Shakur, Larry O'Bannon, and every other competion he's played. Who did Boykins play in college? Ya so Robinson should be more ready than Boykins was, when he came into the league. Boykins wasn't the player he is now, when he enter the league though, he developed.
When did I say that Robinson didn't proved himself? All I said was that he plays a lot like Boykins does.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Casual:</div><div class="quote_post">Nate plays nothing like Earl Boykins.</div> Exactly, their only similarity is they're both midgets.
Boykins did pretty good at Eastern Michigan. I remeber in 2 NCAA tournament games he averaged 33 points, although lost the 3rd game and EM got eliminated. I remeber him scoring in the paint on two guys who were 6'11. Robinson's leaping ability will not be there long, so he will need to be creative. Even though he is a tremendous athlete, I thought he seemed aloof at times on the court. Personally, I'd pass on him. I dislike players smaller than 6 feet, because opposing teams will take advantage of the matchups. Rolebench player at best. I'd love to see Nate the Great prove me wrong though.
in order for nate to be successful in this league, he has to go to an uptempo team-his height would be more a detriment in an half court office-imagine him with phoenix-i think of nate as more of 2 guard than pg-you cant be a 5-7 sg in the nba, thats out-char said that nate looks aloof on the court at times-this is true-look at his game against louisville in the NCAA tounrmament-louisville put a bigger defender on him (Dean, Garcia, Obannon)and forced him to slow the ball down-the result was 8 pts 3 assts 2 rebs-that not going to get it done in the league-teams will look at that game and figure out how to stop him-his athleticism is going to be his savior-i can tell you this, he has had three of the most explosive dunks i have ever seen-
