Well....Wright's always been one of my favorite players in the division. He is long, athletic and a good rebounder. However, he is hardly consistent and it's a near guarantee that he won't give you the same numbers every night. That being said, Wright is still a good big man and sure to draw a lot of interest on the trade market. If we could get him somehow in a deal that won't involve any draft picks, I'll be for it.

That's all I ask from Van Gundy, to get a legit bigman with size and quickness. There is no reason to keep guys like Weatherspoon or Ward. We need athletes to bring energy around Tmac and Yao. I like Wright. I think he'd be more effective defensivley than offense, but he'd also be a nice garbage player to get rebounds, and blocks.

I dont see Wright becoming a Rocket...he's decent, but I think we can get more...Wright is a natural center, meaning we'd have to play him at the 4 spot or as a backup if Mutombo does not return...he's not mobile enough to play the 4s of the NBA, and theres no way he'll be satisfied as a backup...

True Shooter, but I'd much rather have Wright playin PF than Weatherspoon or Bowen. You say that he's not very mobile, but I'd be willin to bet that he's 5 times more mobile than Bowen. Plus, he's a legit bigman. I think the twin towers approach wouldn't hurt the Rockets.

First of all, Bowen isn't a powerforward, for everyone that thinks he is after he guarded Dirk in the playoffs. He's a small forward. So do you honestly think that a 6-11 center in Wright is more mobile and agile than a 6-9 small forward in Bowen?

But to answer the question, I don't think Houston should go for Wright. He already stated he wants more than his option, meaning we will be paying a lot of money for a guy that doesn't have the skills to back it up. He would mostly be playing minutes at the center position, which wouldn't really make sense since Yao gets at least 30 minutes there. That means we would be overpaying for a backup center who would really be only playing for an approximate 18 minutes, maybe even less if Yao figures out how to stay out of foul trouble. As for the twin towers approach, I honestly don't think its ever going to happen. We've never used Mutumbo and Yao on the floor at the same time and don't think it'll change with Wright.

Well for one, Bowen plays both PF AND SF. But he's really to slow to play SF, that's why he's mostly at PF. Just looking at both of them, it's obvious that Wright is quicker, bigger, and more athletic. As far as the twin towers approach, I wasn't referring to Mutumbo. I was referring to when Cato was still here, when he and Yao played together. If we can get him at the right price, Wright would be perfect for the Rockets. We need as many bigman we can afford, bigmen that can play D, rebound, and block shots. Wright won't have to score 20pts a game. All has to do is come in and do the dirty work. If not, I guess you guys will be happy with Bowen playing PF

Bowen's natural position is small forward. I mean, can you even imagine him banging down low with the powerforwards of the league? He looks like he has barely any muscle at all. When you look at the two of them like you say, of course Wright is bigger, he's a 6-11 center compared to Bowen who's 6-9. Great comparison, but it doesn't say anything about whether or not Wright should play powerforward. I agree with you that Wright is more athletic too, but Bowen is definitely faster. He can run the break and dive for loose balls while I'm not too sure Wright is capable of that. If you say that all Wright has to do is come in and do the dirty work, would you be willing to pay him more than 7 million (which is more than everyone's on the team currently besides McGrady) dollars? Wouldn't you call that overpaying for a player that is only needed to come in for like 18 minutes and put up like 6 points and "do the dirty work?" I'd rather just get a rookie to fill in the obvious need or as you say, let Bowen (who is the definition of hustle player) play powerforward.

That why I said if the price is right. If I see Yao going for loose balls, then I know Wright can dive for loose balls. Anytime you have a 7footer that can run the court, then you need to scoop him up. All the successful teams in the NBA have legit bigmen on they're team, not Ryan Bowen.

But the price isn't right. His current contract with Memphis is little over 7 million but he doesn't even want that, he wants more which is why he's asking to be traded. I actually never saw Yao dive for loose balls so I wouldn't know I guess. But I have seen Mutumbo diving for loose balls but thats because he's a hustle player. I've never watched Wright play that much so I really don't know if he has that quality to him.

If Rockets are going to have a deal with Memphis, they should include Stromile Swift in the trade.Stro would provide explosivness that Houston needs at the PF spot.

Rockfan, why are you talking as if Bowen and Weatherspoon are our starters at PF? Juwan Howard is doing a good job right now and if we bring in a big with the 24th pick, we're fine at the four.

Wright is by no means faster than Bowen. He is not a Kevin Garnett type who can do a bit of everything. He is a back to the basket player who depends on his height to score a few points. Saying that he is five times faster than Bowen who can run the floor pretty well is stupid.

I don't know why you're so stubborn. You make the effort to expand on your thoughts and back them up, and I applaud you for that, but when someone proves you wrong, brighten up and step to the bright side. [IMG]
