We haven't even finished celebrating winning the championship, and some people have already picked the heat to win in 06. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/8344153/
I dont see the Heat winning next year...I believe that if Indy keeps Artest and adds a little more depth, they'll be the favorites...Detroit will be up there as well, only if LB returns...I think it will be between Indy, Detroit and Miami in the east next season, and I see Indy coming out ahead...I think Jermaine O'Neal, Artest and Stephen Jackson will be a deadly trio next year, and then you have some nice supporting players with a healthy Jamaal Tinsley, Jeff Foster, Freddie Jones and such...Miami will have Shaq and Wade, but little else...I dont see Eddie Jones repeating the stellar season that he had, and if Damon Jones goes elsewhere this offseason, his 3-point shooting was a HUGE part of their offense...plus, they'll still have lack of depth... Either way, as much as I totally loathe the Spurs (being a Rockets fan), people need to give them their proper respect and due...this team isnt going anywhere for a long while...
What a disgrace Miami will be the 3rd best team in the east next year, Shaq a year older and a year worse. They may lose Haslem due to free-agency, Eddie Jones will also be a year older. Wade improving is not going to be enough to get them past two teams who are much better defensively.

Players like Donyell Marshall, Earl Watson and others can land themselves a spot on the Heat. Even if Shaq might be a year "worse", he'll still have the dominance presence and he'll still open it up for the other players on the squad. Right now is not really a good time to assess the Heat. The draft has not even gone by yet. Just wait to see what goes on in the off-season, then you can evaluate the squad.
It is early to take a gues, but at this moment I don't see, who could match up with SA and Detroit in next playoffs... Miami needs more preformers to make the finals, and I don't think that Dorell will be enough. I can bet that Detroit will win Eastern finals again...
