I think a reason why isiah might consider taking him is, because of his local ties to the NY area. Thomas always seems to want to bring in as much NY people as he can to the franchise Marbury, Lenny Wilkens (that really worked out), and now Bynum. I think considering his age, and the pressure that will be on him to perform since the Knicks really do not have a center right now, and in this big media market they have in NY. The pressure of being a local talent combined with pressure of starting at such a young age he might be a bust if they take him.
I think that they could get him at 30. Picking him at 8 would be a waste, when they could get a young PF or a SF like Antoine Wright. He is a good pick, but they should be wondering if they could get him at 30 instead of 8.

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Andrew Bynum, the 7-foot center who once upon a time was bound for UConn, remains one of the X-factors in the NBA draft. Most NBA scouts and nearly all mock drafts have Bynum going late in the first round. But Bynum and his brother, Corey Thomas, have insisted recently that he would remain in the draft only if a spot among the top 10 picks was guaranteed. Thus, there is a huge gap between what most are expecting to happen Tuesday and what Bynum expects. But that gap may not mean that much. Thomas has said it's possible Bynum would attend UConn if draft night didn't work out as planned, but league rules make that unlikely. If Bynum is selected in the draft - and he almost certainly will be chosen in the first round - he would be bound to whichever team picks him until one year after his class graduates from college. There would be no advantage to going to college since he would be tied to that team at the salary levels currently in place.</div> What if Bynum allready has a promise from Knicks. Otherwise I don't see any sence in this article...

It lacks substance, though Isiah may say it was a part of it - he's just saying that. If there were a bunch of Isiah's little "athletes" out in Wyoming, he'd take them over some "just talented" player from NY/NJ any day. He's from the suburbs of New Jersey as well, Metuchen. There's an enormous difference between Metuchen and Manhattan, they're close enough together for his school to take a nice little field trip to see him at MSG should he be drafted, but he's not from New York. I just really dislike the whole "he's from the area" stuff. I do. Why don't we just trade down and draft Charlie V? I mean he's from New York; home-grown talent! I mean, I really don't like it. ___ Anyway, Bynum at 8 may very well be a huge reach. Frye will never be great, probably a notch over solid. Bynum has the potential to be dominant, and that is extremely appealing to a "potential/upside/talent" lover like Isiah. Rumors are about that if Portland completes a trade with Utah they may use their 6th pick to take Bynum. So Isiah isn't the only one.
Isiah is trying to bring all the Chicago people here, or Detriot area, Rose, Webber, Walker, Curry, Richardson, Crawford, Nazr........he's brough something of them here, and he has tried to get some of them here I don't think Isiah is trying to get an all local NYC team( I wish he did, Marbruy, JR Smith, Etan Thomas, Haywood, Ron Artest, and Peter John Ramos) Hopefully today Isiah will change his ways

I honestly would rather Isiah get a Magloire trade done, but I really don't see it. I also have an inkling that Toronto will draft Frye and dangle him over Isiah's head, forcing him to make a trade to Toronto sending them some expiring contracts in exchange for some long-term contracts. Keep in mind that this is a chance to draft a 6-11 guy with some talent, a guy who can potentially perform on a high level. He has the skills to become a special guy in the league, I think Babcock knows this and will use it against the Knicks.
