Jerome Williams and Mike Sweetney for Weatherspoon and Ward (from the Rockets) Its purely a matter of salary cap issues for the Knicks since both Spoon and Ward are expiring contracts ($6.4M and $1.9M respectively). It would be ironic to see Spoon and Ward back in NY, I'm sure they wouldn't play much, except Ward could play if he recovers from his injury very well. I just thought the Knicks could be interestedin expiring contracts.
I would definitely not be willing to do that. We basically give up those players for one expiring contract. Ward and Weatherspoon aren?t really effective players any more and even though Jerome is overpaid, I like the energy and intensity he brings on the court. Also why are you getting the Sweet Man? He?s our power forward for the future and we?re just giving him to you? I don?t like the sound of that. While probably not a superstar in the league, Sweetney will be a good player in the league.
man dakeem, I would jump on that trade in a heartbeat...but no way, in their right minds would NY be THAT stupid...a trade like that would pretty much be the beginning of the end for Isaiah Thomas as GM...
Yea, and lets bring back Mutombo ako. This trade is ridicoulous. We lose an leader off the bench in JYD. Brings instant energy and hustle. And the future PF for the knicks. Sweetney can grab alot of boards and has alot of moves in the post. I really liked Ward. Solid PG who could score. I wish he wouldve stayed and play backup

YOu would be willing to give up sweetney for some hs player.... Please go look at the entrants in the draft, in no way am i taking some kid who "might" develop into a decent player, there are not LBJ's or Carmelo's or Stoudamires...

He's not that big but I wouldnt call him undersized. This guy can grab boards. He'll be way better than spoon will ever be. Aguirre is working with him to produce face towards the basketball. This is a work in progress and I believe he can be an all-star if he develops a shot and be in better shape.

In Weatherspoon?s best year, he averaged 18.4 points, 10.1 rebounds and 1.4 blocks a game. I do think Sweetney has a better future, though. Working with Aguirre, he?s really improved his post game; add that to the fact he?s an excellent rebounder, someone who averages a double-double definitely won?t be out of the question for him. When he first came to the Knicks, he was overweight, however, once he started working out in the summer, he?s improved that drastically and he?s added many acrobatic moves to his offensive article you wouldn?t have thought possible for someone his size. I won?t say he?s going to be a superstar because I don?t think so, but I do believe he will be a very solid player in the league and maybe eventually an all-star. If he gets 30 minutes next year, he might average about 15 and 9. <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">With this trade, we help our cap issue little by little, especially with Tim Thomas and Penny coming off the books, and if we find someway to get rid of Rose and Taylor....by 07 we could be in a good position </div> Eventually our cap situation will get better, but why are we sacrificing our power forward of the future ? a proven NBA player for the 24th pick ? a non-proven player who might not be as good as Sweetney? We have Tim Thomas and Penny Hardaway coming off the books this summer and Allan Houston (if we keep him), Maurice Taylor, and Shandon Anderson coming off the books next summer. I think we?ll be fine. We don?t need that cap space at the expense of our power forward of the future.

This trade is a joke... I would expect it to be in the Rockets forum, but its horrible for the knicks. Isiah would have to be taking advice from a frog on some type of hallucigents. KT for Q-Rich seems like a decent trade if they unload Houston's contract. No offense to Tribute though. Just seems Isiah hates Houston.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting j0se:</div><div class="quote_post"></div> How can you be sad about the Sweet Man as our power forward of the future? You said he'll be Weatherspoon in his prime, and Weatherspoon put up almost 20/10 in his prime. You wouldn't want that?
