Jamaal Magloire & Chris Bosh Update <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">The Raptors may have a chance to bring Jamaal Magloire from the New Orleans Hornets to his native Toronto in exchange for a first-round draft pick, Morris Peterson and Aaron Williams. Two NBA sources indicated yesterday that while the Hornets initially asked for two first-round picks -- possibly the No. 7 and No. 16 selections the Raptors are scheduled to have in tomorrow's draft -- New Orleans may be willing to settle for substantially less. </div> http://slam.canoe.ca/Slam/Basketball/NBA/T...106931-sun.html <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">The Toronto Raptors announced Monday they have exercised their contract option on forward Chris Bosh. Bosh is now signed with the team through the 2006-07 season. Per team policy, financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. ?Chris showed tremendous development both as a player and a leader last season,? said Rob Babcock, Raptors general manager. ?He has proven to be a key performer for us and we look forward to even bigger things from him in years to come.? </div> I was wondering about the Bosh situation,, because I read that LeBron, Carmelo and Wade all had their 4th year option picked up and I didn't see anything about Bosh. Well, I guess here's the answer! I'm kind of split on the updated trade proposal,, since it's not for both the first round picks it makes more sense now but I kind of don't want to give up Morris Peterson. I say if we get to keep the 7th pick, do this trade but if we have to give up the 7th pick, don't do it.
I think you guys get the worse end of the deal and then some if Toronto really decides to accept this deal. Jamaal Magloire is a good player and an all-star caliber center (was an all-star two years ago), but do you think it?s worth it? Two relatively high picks in one of the deepest draft in years? Personally as a neutral fan, I don?t think you?re better equipped for the future or the present. Bosh gets paired along with Magloire which is good; he finally has help down there, however, what would have happened if Granger slips down to seventh and the Hornets nab him? Not only would you have lost a top five-caliber forward and the best all-around player in the draft, but you could also lose the sixteenth pick too which could have been someone like Joey Graham or even a Jarrett Jack. Magloire is better than both of those players currently, but he?s not as useful as both of those players put together; let alone both of those players next to Bosh when they reach their primes. Again, this is a rumor and isn?t confirmed yet, but Toronto fans ? you better pray it doesn?t come true. It seems like a terrible trade for you guys in my opinion.

Anyway,, I did quote the newspaper as saying "The Raptors may have a chance to bring Jamaal Magloire from the New Orleans Hornets to his native Toronto in exchange for a first-round draft pick, Morris Peterson and Aaron Williams. " If it's both the first rounders, there's no way in hell, but if it's the 16th pick, Mo Pete and Aaron Williams, it has some possibility of happening.
Hornets won't trade that fourth pick. They're desperately trying to stockpile picks this draft and I doubt they'd want to trade down. The Raptors could use that move up to nab Granger if they don't have confidence of doing so at seventh though. As for the Magloire deal, I'm on the fence. Magloire would be a great addition to the squad and would be a top 5 center in the East immediately. Him and Bosh could form a formidable frontline, but I don't like the idea of us giving up Mo Pete, the only athletic swingman we have. It could work though, seeing that the Hornets administration are Mo Pete fans.
I still don't know about this deal, even if it's with the 16th pick... we can get a younger quality player with our 16th pick.. Magloire isn't old, but he still isn't very young... I want to build for the future.
I agree, how old is Magloire now, 27 or 28? We can get 2 solid players with more potentiol and would be 5+ years younger than him.
27 isn't old....he has still a good 6 years ahead of him i believe...if he can stay in shape... this is a good trade if it were the 16th pick....bc aaron is useless and mopete and 16th pick for magloire sounds like a very good deal to me magloire bosh and rose looks like a prety good frontline in the east...

Rose who??? The guy who's contract we should dump? No defense Rose??? How bout he works hard on defense and less on offense, becasue that's what our team needs.
