<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Rob Babcock has narrowed his NBA draft wish list to three candidates as another name has popped into the mix. With the chance of obtaining Toronto native Jamaal Magloire looking more unlikely, one NBA executive expects the Raptors to seriously consider 7-foot Arizona centre Channing Frye with the seventh selection in tonight's draft. Frye, coveted by the New York Knicks at the eighth selection, joins a handful of possibilities general manager Babcock will have at his disposal if he can't convince the Hornets to make a deal for the veteran Magloire. Talks between Toronto and New Orleans continued yesterday as the Raptors remained adamant that they would not part with the seventh and 16th picks to obtain the 6-foot-11 centre Magloire.</div> Toronto Star Leave Frye alone, he belongs to the Knicks!
Thanks for the info MrJ, I hope that the Raptors leave him alone if we are only drafting him to trade with New York. I would rather draft the best pick for the Raptors. (Granger, Deron Williams, Felton, etc.)

Felton and Granger are pretty sure prospects whereas Frye has more risks to his game. I don't think Deron will be available by the time #7 rolls around. There are rumors he can even go up up all the way to #2 and pass Deron. If Granger is around, I don't see Toronto passing him up, though.
If Babcock does draft Channing Frye, I hope its to trade to the Knicks because he could get someone better suited for the raptors, and a player who likes the city of toronto like Danny Granger, but we do need a center.
Forget Frye. The Raptors draft list should be limited to Danny Granger, Gerald Green, Raymond Felton, and Antoine Wright. One of those will be there for our 7th pick.
PLEASE GOD NO BABS NOT FRYE!!! Please, not Frye.. not Frye... We don't want another Loren Woods on our bench. Granger for life.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Mr.Wade:</div><div class="quote_post">PLEASE GOD NO BABS NOT FRYE!!! Please, not Frye.. not Frye... We don't want another Loren Woods on our bench. Granger for life.</div> No Antoine Wright for you, Mr. Wade?
Come on guys...put two and two together lol j/k you're all panicking cause you dont want Frye. I'll tell you right now if Frye is taken by the Raps it is only to trade with New York or the Warriors for the player Toronto wants (granger, wright) + another pick. Example. Toronto drafts Frye, trades Frye and the 58th pick to Warriors in exchange for drafting the player Toronto wants still on the board(granger/wright) + 40th pick. Toronto gets their guy and more. If Babcock knows they want Frye and he's confident the player will be there for the Warriors pick then why not? And its pretty easy to tell who will be there and wont by the time the Raps are on the board.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Banks:</div><div class="quote_post">Now I wish we drafted Frye...I much rather have him over Villy. </div> Same. I STILL can't believe Babcock drafted Villy. It's last year all over again, when everyone was pissed when we got Araujo. Babs saved his ass when he got Graham and Ukic though.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Purple Fever:</div><div class="quote_post">Villanueva is far far more talented than Frye.</div> The difference between the two is while Villanueva is more talented, Frye is more polished, is better now and has never had questions about his work ethic. ?Nueva is real lazy and despite the skills he has, unless he utilizes them they?ll be useless.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Purple Fever:</div><div class="quote_post">Villanueva is far far more talented than Frye.</div> Atleast the pick would of made sense. Frye is 7 feet and 270 that can fill our Center void, and he was projected to be taken around our pick anyways. With Villanueva...he's 6'10 with shoes and 240. He's a PF. Just doesn't make sense to me. Villy better play Center and play it better than Frye. I really don't want any of them, but Frye makes more sense than Villy. I think Villy will be the better player, but I don't see how the pick makes sense.
I heard Babcock on ESPN radio yesterday and he said the logic behind the pick was his talent. He said in terms of talent, he is a lottery pick, and CV admitted he to him he is a pretty lazy person and unless you don't push him, he won't take the extra effort to improve his game. Babcock said Sam Mitchell is real strict and will push him to his potential.
I'm just saying, people are giving Babcock some heat for the pick, but you could say the same thing about the likes of Zeke, Mullin, Bickerstaff, the Magic front office and Kuptchak who passed on Green, Granger and Wright. The fact is, if somebody told us 24 hours before the draft that we're going to end up with Roko Ukic, Graham and Villanueva without having to trade up, I bet 95% of the fans (who know their ball) would have been ecstatic.
Everyone agree's is was a good draft, what most of us fans are mad at is that it could've been a GREAT draft. Graham will help us on defense, and Ukic was a steal, but no way would I want Villanueva at 7.
We would probably be working on a trade involving Frye if we had drafted him anyway, cause he refused to workout for the raptors, and supposedly wouldnt have reported if he was drafted by us from what i just heard on tv.
