<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">It's always tricky to solicit opinions when the draft is imminent, trade talks are bubbling, and free agency is looming. So perhaps it's merely gamesmanship when two Western Conference executives whisper to me that Pierce's off-the-court lifestyle has hurt his standing in the league. Pierce is a single, 27-year-old athlete who is known for partying hard and keeping late hours. Members of the Celtics organization have spoken to him in the past about his extracurricular activities, yet Pierce has not curbed his taste for the nightlife. Has it affected his play? His own front office believes it has.</div> http://www.boston.com/sports/basketball/ce...oncerns/?page=2 Probably not the lifestyle that you want the cornerstone of your franchise living...
to me it realy dont matta what he do off the court as long as he put up sum 20 points 9 rebounds im good.
Don't a lot of NBA players go to clubs whats the big deal? he does well on the court so who cares about his personal life.
yes he did get stabbed, but these things happen its not really his fault. Thats like saying im not going outside my house because i might get shot by someone or robbed.
At no point has this supposed problem surfaced on the basketball court. He has been one of the most durable athletes around and brings it every day. This may be partially true but factor in also he will be getting married soon, so that should slow him down a bit. Plus, isn't it other GMs job to bring up every negative there can be to lower his value?
Regardless of any justification that may be placed upon the situation, the most upsetting part of the tidbit is that, apparently, he feels as though his nightlife is more important than fulfilling the requests of Celtics' management. Who better to judge whether it's affecting his play, other than the management? If they say that it's the case, then it most likely is. He was asked to cut down on his party time and he ignored the request. I don't think that's the kind of attitude I want leading this team.
Wow. The C's must really want Pierce out of Boston. If they had to go that low to bring him down and give themselves more of a reason to trade him, they really want him out Boston no matter what.
Here's what always annoys me about this kind of thing: this has apparently been going on for a while, yet this is the first I've ever read about it. Why do reporters always feel the need to bite their tongue about this stuff until the guy has one foot out the door? If it was really an issue that effected the team, wouldn't any reporter worth their salt have already done a story about this?

John Tomasi ripped apart Manny Ramirez and hasn't heard the end of it, even though he made some valid points. Writers will jump at the chance to kick a player when they're already down, and this is just a classic example.
just more bullpoo absolutist one-sided unfounded smearing by the boston media trying turn public opinion against pierce like they did with pedro, nomar, and so many others.
