You guys should start a bigger campaign in front of the Air Canada Centre, cuz Babcock is a F****** retard. I broke up laughing when I heard Charlie V pick, but Joey Graham when Green and Granger were still up there. Then when they interviewed Babock, He said he was going to use Charlie V at SF and a little bit of PF...... didn't he scout this guy, he's mostly PF. Charlie don't have a perimeter game, so why pick him? At least you guys got a steal in Ukic.

Our Team As of June 29:

    altson/Ukic/Cook
    rose/mopete/ukic
    CV/graham/rose
    CB4/bonner/CV
    araujo/sow

    reserves: ewill, awill, woods, murry,

i was shocked when CV came in at 7th, and then calm like everyone else. when i came to think about it, who cares where they were drafted, this looks like a defence oriented team to me. and at least 1 player from their position will be able to play D.

we can have an all offence or defence team:

    offence:

    altson/rose/CV/CB4/Bonner

    defence:

    Ukic/mopete/graham/CB4/sow

i don't think this yr's picks r really that bad......except if anyone of them doesn't live up to haf the potenial that we thought they could.

Great draft. B+. Ended up with 3 talented players who're supposed to go top 20 according to 'Mocks'.

There is a reason why 16 teams passed on Green and Granger. Besides, Graham is a better athlete/defender than both.

Didn't you people say that last year about Andre Igoudala and Jameer Nelson?? There are reasons why teams let them slide.. Right now there are doing better than Araujo, i'm still angry at Villanueva pick, Granger said he was happy to play in Toronto, Toronto said they were happy with Granger...

This is what i learned, Babcock chooses players that will suprize everyone so be prepared next season, and watch out he will choose a player no one will expect thats if he's still around...

I still can't believe it. I was watching Raptors NBA TV for a couple of weeks leading up to the draft, he was bringing the right players in, Green, Granger, Wright, Felton, etc. then I was watching the draft last night, so excited to see who he would choose, then out of NOWHERE he picks Villanueva. It was a good draft, but it's dissapoiting when it could've been a GREAT draft.

Charlie + Mo for Magloire(with appropriate fillers). That's what I'm hoping for. I don't care how far feteched it could possibly be. That is the only way I will be satisfied.

In retrospective, I guess Babcock went for 2 solid picks. I guess Danny Granger wasn't taken because of injuries in the past, and Green because he is a complete unsurity (unintelligient decisions regarding workouts, does he want to be in Toronto, how will he develop, who in Toronto can be a mentor to him). Graham is a solid player and Villanueva is as well. I think Babcock went for the guarenteed role players that will boost the team right off the bat. In that regard it is a pick based on need because now (as it seems Donyell will not return), Charlie Villanueva can act as a backup to Chris Bosh and on rotations take the 3, *although I am quite surprised that Babcock said during his interview that that Charlie could play center*.

Even if it wasn't the best pick at 7, it was hilarious to see Stephen A. Smith go crazy. It was almost as bad as Jay Bilas on Chris Taft or Vitale in the Second round.

I really hope we do well next season.

**I wonder how Roko will develop under the tutelage of Raefer Alston [IMG]

hoy damn, Babcock messes up again. For christ sake how do u pass up on Granger TWICE. I dont know Green would be here or there. but Granger and Graham could have been a good thing for the team. The only thing that the Villanueva pick was based on was that he liked Canada and didnt mind to play here, like some people did in the past *cough* mourning *cough* *cough* francis *cough*

It's really irritating to see people who pretend to know it all, while in reality, their only source of information could be internet articles or certain highlites here and there.

How can you pretend to know more than Babcock, Mitchell, Embry, English etc?
I have some questions for you and I would like you to answer them honestly.

1 - In total, how many minutes of tape have you seen of Green and or Granger?
2 - Were you present at any of the workouts the raptors conducted?
3 - Have you ever played or coached in the NBA?
4 - Do you have the credentials to be a scout or GM for an NBA franchise?
5 - In total, how many minutes have you seen of Graham and or Villanueva?

Fact is, these guys had a year under them to scout and put forward a mxim effort to guarentee us the best players possible to help this team. I have NO DOUBT whatsoever that Embry, Babcock and Mitchell want the best for this team, so who are we to second guess them if they were working with these players for over 6 months and have had a first hand look on all players.

Kind of disappointed. I know Villaneuva is a good all around talent and whatnot, but people have constantly said that his work ethic and attitude aren't too good. Maybe Sam can set him straight if that is the case, but I still think we should have drafted someone else.

Good job on drafting Graham though, and Ukic was a great steal for us.

Do you Raptor fans think that this decreases the chances of us re-signing Bonner AND Pape?

personally I would hate to lose one of them, but I'm worried that it is a possibility now. Man I wish Bab drafted a SG with the 7th.

one of the raptor's needs this year was rebounding along with a swingman and a backup pg... by drafting charlie V, they got a rebounder off the bench. He'll be on the bench for about as long as he is a raptor which i think is done in 4 years...

Obviously most of us fell for the misinformation that GMs usually spread before the draft. I mean how many teams were high on Granger before the draft? Utah, TO, GS, Minny, NJ. And there were even more teams high on Green. We might think they were stupid moves, but we can only decide when we see them during the season.

I was thinking about these draft choices, and I realized that they give the Raps a lot of flexibility with lineups. If one player slacks there's someone ready to take their place. I even think that a Bosh, Villanueva, and Graham lineup could hold its own in the East, if their in a 3-2 zone.

The more I think about it, the more I'm getting to liking it. The Raps now have a good mix of offense in Alston, Rose, Peterson, Villy, Bosh, and Bonner, and nice mix of defense in Peterson, Bosh, Sow, and Graham. We are going to have one of the best benches next year.

Granger's drop was such a surprise. We were actually scared that he'd be gone by 7th, but instead he lasts till 17th and we pass on him twice. Smokescreens by GMs are very deadly.

I see the rotations that some of you guys have projected; if Rose is relegated to the bench in favor of Villy or Graham and Mo, then Jalen is as good as gone too. His production might be too much to replace.

Man.. just stop all the hating. We got a dude that can do virtually everything with the ball (villanueva) and a dude that is killer from mid-range, true defensive stopper, best free throw shooter in the draft and the dude is on another plane athletic ability wise.

    here are some facts:

-Graham is the 2nd strongest player in the NBA, benches 458pds while he weighs 225.
-Villanueva hit his chin on the rim while dunking in a game in high school.(4 stiches)
-Villanueva has a very rare disease.(dont worry, he wont die on us)
    -Graham is a plane pilot.

Stop hating for now guys, wait till a month of basketball to see what these guys can do on the floor in the NBA, and then we'll see if Babcock's plan has any potential then we can judge after.

It gives the idea that they won't be resigning Bonner or Pape, but most likely Toronto will resign both..

Yeah, I'm thinking the same. Even though I'm not completely sold on Villaneuva, I think he adds some versatility to our frontcourt although he really isn't an actual small foward or center. Maybe we can continue to experiment with Bosh and move him over to the small foward a couple of times too.
