Its funny how the draft works-two picks who were supposed to go in the top 7 are there at 17 and 18-I was ready for Danny Granger but the Pacers snatched him up-That left Green-Great pick for down the line-I didnt like him in the sop 5 or 6 but to get him or Granger at 18-ill take it-hopefully we can look at this pick in 3 years and say we got a bargain-

This was a great pick by the franchise. I thought that Green would have gone much higher. When Green and Warrick were still avalible when we got to pick I knew we would get one of them.

This will give us a lot of youth and a lot of potential. I'm looking for Green to come off the bench and provide immediate help. He might even start at the Small Forward position. This was the steal of the draft. We also drafted Ryan Gomes, who is another raw young player with potential.

Now if we can get Walker to re-sign, our roster will be solid. Kudos to Danny ainge. [IMG]

Boston was the draft winner, hands down. Green at 18 AND Gomes at 50? Unbelievable. Haha, Thrilla's gonna wet his pants when he finds out the Celtics got Gomes.

Where is 44? I logged on this morning expecting to see a ton of posts about Green in the Celtics forum.

Man, that was a great draft by Ainge. It reminds me a lot of last year's draft where a high school player slipped to us mid-first, and we used the other picks on solid college players.

It's amazing the amount of luck that we needed to land both Green and Gomes, without trading anything away for additional picks. In the first, I couldn't believe Danny Granger and Gerald Green dropped so low, and I was actually hoping for Granger. As soon as Indiana scooped him up, I knew Danny would pick Green because he'd be stupid not to.

The best of the picks had to be Rayn Gomes, though. I knew we had worked him out 3 times, so I had a feeling we might pick him......at 18. I have to admit it hurt seeing so many teams pass on him, but as soon as it got in the 40-45 range, I started rooting for him to keep dropping. When 50 came around, and he was still available, and then they actually picked him....I totally lost it for a good 10 minutes. It was not a pretty sight.

Boston has had a very good draft. Not just b/c they got a highly rated player at #18 but also b/c they got an absolute gift in the second round w/ Ryan Gomes.

Green is going to have to beat out a lot of people to get minutes on this roster. All of these guys are capable of logging minutes at the 2 guard slot: Paul Pierce, Ricky Davis, Tony Allen, and Delonte West. Considering that most of those players are locked up for a while, Green may end up blossoming just enough to leave for big money when his contract is up (see his most comparable idol--T-Mac).

I don't think that this is a bad pick at all, on the contrary, I think that Ainge has done exceptionally well in the drafts the past two seasons. But w/ a high school player it may be best to throw him to the wolves early and live and die w/ the results--b/c in the event that he does blossom into a star, he may feel slighted if he had to wait an extended period of time to see action. (see T-Mac, J. O'Neal, lesser extent A. Harrington, etc.)

Man, the Celtics had the best draft hands down. Gerald Green is someone who can develop into something great down the line and if he won't stay around once his rookie contract is up, at least the Celtics could use him as a very valuable trade bait. Ryan Gomes was a steal at 50, and it's also one for the hometown fans.

It just seems to me that the Celtics are stacked at every position with talent, except for maybe the one.

I can see a championship in another 5 or 6 years. [IMG]

When no one had taken Sean May after the 12th pick I was hoping that he would slip down to where boston could scoop him up. May would have been a great Celtic. People always say that he's to small to be a power Forward but he is a proven WINNER.

When we pick Green I completly lost it. I was jumping up and down and screaming. I couldn't beleive we got him. The when we picked up Gomes at 50 I knew Ainge had pulled off another spectacular draft.

Pure symphonic brilliance. If any of you have ever wondered about my title and what it means, look up "olskoolfunktitude" in the dictionry there and youll see a picture of danny ainge with fistsfuls of cash in his hands standing in front of the studs he has drafted this past 2 years and surrounding them is many beautiful ladies and maybe one or two large robots with jetpacks on. Above the group floats the Larry OBrien trophy descending slowly but surely towards the city of Boston!!!

    now if that aint
    ol
    skool
    FUNKTittude
than i dont know what is

What happened to his 10th finger?

I'm amazed that he can even handle the ball with his right hand without a 10th finger!

Dont really know how it happened, but notice in most of his new pics, he's covering his right hand, and even in the draft while he was talking with Stuart Scott.
