Doc Rivers was on WEEI on this morning. He said: "I want Gomes to play the power 3 next season. Since he's so big, it will force the other team's 3 to guard him, leaving Pierce guarded by the other team's 2. i would like to see a 2 guard try to cover Paul Pierce, cause that would be quite a spectacle" I've even heard that we took a long, hard look at Gomes at the 18th pick, just to fill the role that Doc mentioned. If Ryan is a starter, we'll have both Ricky Davis and Tony Allen coming off the bench, which will be a huge advantage in every game we play next year.
i still cant believe me got him at 50, please go on yahoo and look at highlights of orien greene-if he makes the team he could cause some match up problems-he has a similar game and build to willie green who plays for the sixers
Does Danny Ainge not bleed Celtic Green? This guy is amazing, I'm glad people are finally standing firmly behind him in Boston, no one else seemingly gave him a chance early on except a select few (myself and thrilla, jk). Anyhow, he pulls another rabbit out of the hat in this years draft and The Celtics look deeper and more potential ridden than ever. I think if you see Green post some impressive numbers off the bench, Pierce's spot on the team could be number, that's of course if Ainge doesn't move him THIS OFFSEASON. We're loaded at the point guard (banks, payton, west), we're loaded at shooting guard (pierce, allen, davis), we're improving at Small Foward with Justin Reed and Ryan Gomes. However we're still lacking at Center. So why not move Pierce and aquire such a player? I still don't know how or why Pierce is still wearing 34 in Boston.
They shouldnt trade Pierce. He is the team. People havent been giving him enough credit lately and have been overstating his bad qualitites. He is a fine role model for the younger players because he plays the game the right way and knows how to win and has proved nothing but that in his time in Boston. So what if he gets in trouble coz he doesnt take any crap from anyone. good for him. hes tough. he got stabbed 11 times and didnt miss a game that season and only got better than he had ever been. Those are the kind of players I want. Guys who will lay it ALLLLL out on the line for the team and wont be bullied by anyone! besides cant trade him for a center because theres too many people and too much money tied up there anyway between blount and lafreanz and dont forget u need to find perkins time there too.
That would be great for Boston and Gomes. He could fill that roll well. We will have a huge advantage above other teams idf we have two or three players that can come off the bench and provide immediate offense. But if Gomes is put in a starting role where will that leave Green?

<div class="quote_poster">Quoting AA13:</div><div class="quote_post">But if Gomes is put in a starting role where will that leave Green?</div>Green isn't ready to start yet. He'll be logging his share of minutes, but he's right out of High School so he probably won't be ready for the starting role and all the minutes that come along with it.

But will he be playing a Shooting Guard or Small Forward when coming off the bench? We have Tony Allen coming off the bench also. With Green, Allen and Davis coming off the bench we could possibly have one of the best benches in the leauge.
I'll say it'll be West, Pierce, Gomes, Jefferson, and Lafrentz. Our wing players are stacked, so a deal might be coming. Ricky Davis' value is at an all time high because of his contract. He might go, and I also wouldn't be surprised to see Allen go, too.
