lets all forget bout the terrible pick at 7th ,just wanted to know if you guys think we should have gotten Granger or Green at 16th instead of Graham i thought for sure the announcement was going to be "With the 16th pick of the 2005 NBA draft the Toronto Raptors select Danny Granger", i thought it was for sure but just wanted to see your thoughts on it all and what you think or 16th should have been
I'm alright with pick. Granger is more polished and seems more NBA ready but you could argue that both players are pretty even. Granger's had injury problems, which might've scared away the Raptors. I think we traded Granger's superior scoring ability and polished allaround game for stability in Graham as well as better athleticism and arguably better D. I'm only afraid that Graham won't fit into an NBA position.

There were teams like the Lakers who needed a big, but teams like the Bobcats / Warriors / Nets could've definitely grabbed them and they didn't. Joey Graham is going to be a solid player who will be able to fit in alongside Bosh nicely at the 3 position. Like the saying goes, you can learn to shoot, but you can't learn size.
Graham is the best athlete in the draft, and arguebly the best defender as well, at 16 he was the right choice in my opinion. Although Wright and Granger may be better offensively, that is not a problem of ours because we have Jalen and Mo at the wings who are capable scorers.
Graham is an athletic FREAK! the man posted some outstanding numbers at the Chicago NBA Athletic Combine, and was the best overall performer at the combine...I see him playing two positions, the 3 and some spot 4, and I think he'll be a stand-out defender and a player who will rebound and get some easy baskets down low and in transition...this is a pick that actually made sense for the raptors, especially when you consider that Donyell Marshall is as good as gone...
Exactly. Just imagine Villanueva / Bosh / Graham playing in a 3-2 zone. They will be able to guard anyone on a switch unless someone named Shaquille O'Neal comes along. But then maybe Joey Graham could hold off O'Neal with his hulk-like strength.
Joey was the best pick by the raptors this year, the guys is an animal. 180lbs, 26 reps!! And he knows how to fly a plane. I'm incredibly happy we came out of the draft with Joey Graham, I didnt expect him to last until the Raptors pick but as you know the draft didnt go as all expected by people, and mock drafts. Joey is one of my favorite players coming into the NBA, and will be one of my favorite NBA players in the years to come, I cant contain how happy I am he is a raptor.

Joey Graham to the rescue!
Haha!!! I bet that will happen too... Joey will save all their lives. Joey Graham was the safer pick at 16... I think that's why Babcock chose him. He wanted someone who he was 100% sure would be a solid NBA player and would fit what our team needs: defense, toughness and athleticism. Granger had injury problems, so Babcock probably thought down the long road what could happen (a la Vince Carter). Gerald Green first of all didn't even like Toronto... plus he is a HUGE gamble... he could turn out to a superstar, or could be a huge bust. Plus with his attitude problems and all... GO J-Train!

well actually in the interview after the workout he said like he only missed TWO games because of injury and the rest were personal or sumthing...
No, he has back and knee problems forced him to miss parts of his senior/junior and sophmore seasons. Even if they are minor injuries, back and knee are the 2 worst places to be injured... Just look why the Magic picked Howard over Okafor, because Okafor had a track record of a bad back. P.S - Granger played 30 games in his senior season, 22 his junior, 14 his sophmore and 29 his freshman.
