there ya go! I've heard nothing but rave reviews about Hayes' work ethic...he was a great rebounder and nice scorer at Kentucky....but hes a great pickup by the Rockets...UK, what can you tell me about Hayes and his game? What would you say are his strengths and weaknesses?
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Shooter:</div><div class="quote_post">UK, what can you tell me about Hayes and his game? What would you say are his strengths and weaknesses?</div> Hayes was forced to play center in te 2003-2004 season because Kentucky had absolutely no talented centers. Chuck offered to play there, and his wish came true. Playing center that year only made Hayes that much better of a player because he was forced to guard players 5-6 inches taller than him. Hayes plays great and was even rewarded with his play this year by being named the 2004 SEC Defensive Player on the Year. He rebounds and blocks shots well for his 6'6 frame at the 4(finished in the top 10 in blocks and rebounds at Kentucky). And as you said, his work ethnic is amazing; he goes all out and will play through anything(played a few games with a broken nose last season). Hayes' biggest weakness is by far his size. He's a 6'6 power forward that is not that athletic; he is not that effective of a shooter either. But you all will be happy with leadership and all the other little things if he makes the team.
I think Chuck Hayes could be a good addition to the Rockets and a great back up. Hopefully he accepts the offer and becomes a part of the Houston Bench. I thought he'd be a lock to get drafted somewhere in the late-second round.

Don't know anything about this guy. But from what I hear in the articles, he is not athletic enough to play SF. With a good work ethic liker his, maybe he can work on it.
Nah, Hayes isn't really athletic enough to be a SF. He lacks good ball-handling skills but does have a nice mid-range jumper. He needs to fix his ugly looking shot, though, because in the NBA, you can't take as long as he does to shoot the rock.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting THE DREAM:</div><div class="quote_post">somehow I'm not that excited about a 6'6 PF.</div> Neither am I. Hayes is a good worker and was a great player in college, but going against 6-11 power forwards is not something I'd like of a 6-6 power forward. Don't see Hayes making much of an impact, although the team must have really liked what they saw from Hayes in the workouts to offer him a contract instead of a summer league roster spot. He should be a candidate to be dispatched to the minor league in his first year.
