<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">By JONATHAN FEIGEN Copyright 2005 Houston Chronicle A night before, Luther Head was so nervous he locked himself in a room alone, away from his family and friends who would "explode" in roars when he was selected by the Rockets. A day later, he was so nervous talking about himself he said he could barely remember his name, much less the players whose sticky defense he had come to admire. In a few minutes, he would hit the Toyota Center practice court for the first time. But first, Head showed another side of himself the nerves could not hide. He had said all the right things about joining a 51-win team and fitting in. He said he would learn "everything" possible from the veterans who fill the Rockets' roster. I warn everyone not to have unrealistic expectations of him because being a rookie he would first have to be accustomed to playing in such a high standard and he may not show his true colors for quite some time. So don't be like "oh why did we get this guy" or "man we made a mistake" just because he's not playing to certain expectations. Give this kid a chance and he'll show up.
I'm confident in Head and the Rockets organization for bringing him in, although I have to admit I was angry and confused we passed up a power forward. However, the team will definitely be addressing that issue with free agency and there will be no doubt that the team wouldn't be better after the offseason. Head and whoever we bring in should become part of our rotation.
I also wanted a PF as well, but the drafting of Head does address a need...and I think he'll bring some intelligent play to the court...I'm excited to see what this guy will do as a Rocket...
well think about it, were heavy in guards now, we shold be able to make osme moves now and get a decent PFand now we have younth at are gaurd position with head added to our team.
The point guard spot isn't by any means "heavy", I would think. With the addition of Head, we're definitely better than we were before, but none of the guards we have are pure PGs except Ward. We still lack a passer and someone who can perfectly complement Yao and TMac. Sura came close but he doesn't have the passing game required.
