    Is my advice.

You've spent a top 10 pick on Luke Jackson - and this guy can flat out stroke it.

Be patient - you have a great young core. Add someone like Antonio Daniels and you'll make the playoffs next season. Keep Z, and that's a very solid line-up. A maturing Varajeo, an experienced AD, Snow, Pavlovic and Newble coming off the bench, Gooden improving and we all know what LeBron can do.

What is the rush here? Sign AD and you're making the playoffs, have faith in Luke Jackson and you have your shooter. Don't spend max money on Redd.

Hell, if you have to spend your money, have a real crack at Radmanovic. He is one hell of a shooter.

    PG - AD
    SG - LeBron
    SF - Radmanovic
    PF - Gooden
    C - Ilgauskas

Bench: Snow, Jackson, Pavlovic, Varajeo, Newble

I always thought that Luke Jackson was an NBA Small Forward and Michael Redd was an NBA Shooting Guard. LeBron James is versatile, so that's no concern. What's wrong with this lineup?

    PG - LeBron James
    SG - Michael Redd
    SF - Luke Jackson
    PF - Drew Gooden
    C - Zydrunas Ilgauskas

The Cavaliers would also have a little loose change left after those signings to have a respectable cap situation for next season as well. I think that Redd or Allen are great options for the Cavs.

When you have a chance to get a great shooting guard, you have to go for It. You can't hope that a guy like Luke Jackson who hasn't showed any signs of improvement in his rookie season is your guy for the future. Lebron needs a great shooting guard for his team to contend in the east. Along with a few other pieces, this is the start and really do you think Lebron wants to continue to wait for guys to develop? he is a winnner, he is getting sick of losing and has yet to make the playoffs as an NBA pro. That is in his mind. He wants impact players straight away.

I like VC's lineup. Lebron has always been known to play the point coming out of high school and there is no doubts in my mind that he can still do it, like you said he is so versatile he may be even able to play four positions when necessary. With the combination of Redd and Jackson at 2 and 3 with Lebron at the point and big Z in the middle I don't see why the Cavs can't contend now, and then five years from now. It seems like Redd won't leave the Bucks though, why would he leave the team that gave him a chance in the second round and then a chance to proven himself and on top of that he will get paid $20 million dollars from the Bucks than the Cavs.

If the Cavs do lose out on Redd they can always go after Joe Johnson and try to lure him away from Phoenix, or possibly even Samuel Dalembert as either a backup center or a power forward but they would have to lure him away from Philly as well. There's a lot of possibilites for the team that has the most cap room in the league, they might even make a run at Ray Allen, but when it's all said and done I believe the Cavs will be left with just an average free agent, no superstar though (Cat Mobley anyone?)...

I have absolutely no problems with Redd, I think he makes the Cavs into a team that will probably go deep into the playoffs.

I just don't think he is a max-worthy player, and I think it is too much money for the Cavs to spend on a guy that isn't going to be a first option. Z needs to get his touches too - I'm not saying don't sign Redd because he isn't a good player. I'm saying spend the money more wisely, as by adding the right pieces and keeping the core group they have got now, they will be a contender in a few years, and keep money in the bank.

Redd has received two max offers, one from the Bucks and one from the Cavs. He will make $20Million less if he signs with the Cavs, but at this point he has a better chance to win in his home town of Cleveland. I think the Bucks should do a sign and trade with the Cavs, because I agree, Redd is not worth a max contract.

I agree, don't sign Michael Redd. Why? Because, Lebron James does not need another dominate scoring option on his team unless it's in the post. Redd playing for The Cleveland Cavaliers doesn't deserve a MAX contract. Go ahead and put him alongside Lebron James, his numbers are more than likely to decline and his production won't be worth the amount they're paying him. Lebron needs role players on his team more than a second scoring option. Resigning BIG Z is likely. So work from there. Sign Cuttino Mobley, he's a solid shooter and plays solid defense. He won't take from Lebron's touches or shot attempts, and Lebron won't feel the obligated to pass more often and get him involved like he did Ricky Davis. Sign Antonio Daniels or get a Derek Fisher type player to run the point. Than with the money that you'll save from NOT signing Michael Redd, you can put role players and veterans around Lebron from 1-12, The Dikembe Mutombo's, Darrell Armstrong's, and Brent Barry's of the world.

You are so right man! people really dont know how good these guys are.. the barry's and armstrongs and all these role players. they are what wins championships.....first thing we need to do is gather up some decent shooters.....to spread the floor for bron bron and give Z some space to work....also we need some hustle players and role players..... we dont NEED redd we need a couple of shooters and some role players we can get all of that for the price redd is asking for.what i would do is first sign antonio daniels..... then i would sign darrel armstrong.....try and go after stromile swift or dalembert......try and sign anthony peeler an excellent shooter and defender off the bench......donyell marshall is out there and so is damon jones. one more great peice they could use off the bench would be ryan bowen...a phsical defender and a Ok outside3 shooter....if you can grab a couple of these peices you would be a solid team but if all else fails sign redd or allen or hughes.

it's true that role players are key to championships. they do all those little things that are so key, play d, get rebounds, set picks, be a sniper from 3-point land, get physical, use fouls so the stars don't get into foul trouble, extra, extra.

every team needs at least a couple big time scorers though. LeBron is one, we need another...

Zydrunas Ilgauskas averages 16.9 Points a game. Drew Gooden averages 14.4 PPG. Cuttino Mobley averages 17.2 PPG. Antonio Daniels averages 11.2 PPG. Lebron James averages 27.2 PPG. That's an average of 86.9 Point Per Game coming just from your starting lineup. Now with the money you've saved by not signing Michael Redd to a max contract, you can strengthen the bench and add more depth, more scoring, better defense, ETC. It just makes more sense in my opinion than "putting all your eggs in one basket".

If the Cavs can't find anyone else significant to sign, than I would have no problem giving Redd a max deal. Keeping LeBron the franchise player happy is what should be considered first. The last thing the Cavs need is another losing season and that could cause James to walk out on them.

Luke Jackson is not ready to start. Jackson was a pick that they thought could come in help where he was most needed. SF & help in the 3pt Shooting. But he became injured & LeBron moved to SF. James was great at SF & I really don't wan't to see him move out of that. Luke Jackson will play as a backup & the Cavs will sign a SG. I would love for them to sign Joe Johnson because Joe seems like a better fit to me. But the Suns will almost match anything that comes his way so that has a chance but not likely. Redd has been offered a Maximum Contract by the Bucks so he has to decide if he is going to stay true to his word that he made to the Bucks & re-sign. Allen I don't think is that good of a fit. He is aging & just not worth the money. I wouldn't mind Hughes or Cat as our 2nd option if one of the 3 doesn't sign. That would also leave money to sign more depth.

I am aware Jackson isn't ready to start, but he is a fantastic shooter, and with the right development and coaching can potentially fill a needed role as a shooting swingman.

Johnson would fit the Cavs like a glove.

They should pick up Redd, he is great and would fit into their line-up with Lebron and Jackson. Redd is young too isn't he? Him going to Cleveland would make them a very good team. BTW there's a good chance Ilgauskas will not be back... just mentioning that.

The Cavs wll not sign JJ. The Suns have money to sign him. They have made moves, and will continue to make moves to keep their young core together...

dont worry, the Cavs wont land Redd anyway...The Bucks were dumb enough to offer this guy the max, and I dont really see him turning that down...the Cavs would be better off signing daniels (although I want him in Houston) and then signing a cheap shooter like Kyle Korver...

That's why I said the Suns will match anything that comes his way. Jackson Is a great three point shooter & will definitly have a role on the team. But I don't think he is a starter & this team needs a surefire starter whether it's Redd or Larry Hughes another Star player is needed.

How many surefire stars do you need in a starting line-up? LeBron is top five in the league, Z is top five at his position and Danny Ferry is back. Do you really need to spend the max on another starter?

Korver and Radmanovic may be much more viable options, altough both are restricted.

The Phoenix Suns will have money flow problems very soon. Currently they only have 8 Players signed, their payroll is at 45 Million. They have to resign Joe Johnson, that's another 8 Million, so they're payroll jumps to 53 Million. Than they need to add another 3-5 Players to complete they're roster. So by the end of the summer your looking at roughly a near 60 Million Dollar Roster.

Now think about the season following that, 2006-2007. Shawn Marion will be making 15.07 Million. Steve Nash will be getting 10.5 Million. Kurt Thomas at 7.35 Million. Amare Stoudemire will enter the first year of his new contract, likely a 10 Million Dollar start year. Joe Johnson will be getting between 8-9 Million Dollars. So in 2006-2007, The Phoenix Sun's Payroll could be roughly 70 Million Dollars, placing them in The Top 5 highest payrolls and that's without a very deep bench either. So they're basically going to have very little room to improve and a very high payroll. Do they want to spend the money on Joe Johnson? Who knows. I think the Raja Bell signing is pretty interesting though....
