As will Chris Webber, who has been a candidate for luxury tax relief, but he still has productive season?s left. As will Allen Iverson, who is always the subject of trade rumors, but he sells out the Wachovia Center and is still pound for pound the best player in the game. Jeff McInnis? early exit last season cost him a lot and the Sixers will get him on the cheap. McInnis playing for the sixers would be great but Its tough to see who would start because the 76ers need Korvers 3 point shot
McInnis going to the Sixers seems a little odd for me and the fact that he would be playing the two makes it even more odd. I would say if the Sixers are going after McInnis it would be to play McInnis at the point, and move Iverson back to the two. Not the other way around where you would have Iverson at the point and McInnis at the two it just makes no sense to have the man who was #7 in assits to turnover ratio playing the two for the Sixers, come on now.
At times I swear I have to ask myself who writes this stuff. I mean AI subject to trade rumors?!? I have not heard any has anyone else? Anyway as far as bringing in McInnis I say no bad move should happen. He showed in his time at Cleveland he is a scorer, and could possibly be an asset to a team as a spark off the bench. However, should never be considered for a starting role in an offense unless he learns to discipline himself on the defensive end of the court for his team. He is a horrible defender and really has nothing to offer a team besides scoring. Cheeks is trying to implement a hard nosed defensive style to this team like we had when we went to the finals a few years back. Bringing in McInnis would be a cancer to the team kind of like Derrick Coleman was in the end of his career on the team. I would much rather see them just bring back the team they had last season, and add a few good pieces like Donyell Marshall then even think about signing McInnis. With bigger guards like Michael Finley soon to be on the market I am surprised there names have not been linked to the 76ers.
they dont have the money for finley and McInnis wont become a sixer they just convinced iverson to play PG and it was one of the best seasons of his career.so i doubt it i would think a team like the bobcats would take him felton will need some time to settle in and Knight will prob leave so he could find himself there.plus they need the experience and a role like this could be just what McInnis needs to change his attitude.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting eyes only:</div><div class="quote_post">they dont have the money for finley</div> What makes you say that? When Finley's name has come up with teams like the Suns, Pistons, etc in a scenario in which he plans on signing for the MLE.
I think this is more of a personal projection then a rumor, I've looked at all of he rumor site and I haven't heard anything on McInnis to the 76ers so I doubt it.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting iversonfan3:</div><div class="quote_post">So all in all we can only sign one FA with the MLE?</div> It all depends we could offer our full mid level exception to one person or split it up and offer partial amounts to a couple different players. A lot of people are expecting us to sign Marshall with the MLE though, we could always work out a sign and trade for any other free agent we might be interested in I mean its not like we do not have the pieces to make moves...
word of advice: pass on mclinnis. he's a headcase. this year he flipped his jersy around and said something to the effect of "i come first" you guys dont want him
^ Agreed. Like I said eariler, he has a horrible attitude, and doesn't play defense. Last season (LeBron's first year) Silas told McInnis to guard Jamal Crawford and he yelled out 'Aw man!'. Not the kind of guy I would want on my team.
I do not believe he is the answer to our prayers and the guy we really need to mess up our chemistry. We have a great nucleus and with the right piece we can contend, with the wrong piece we will end up like New Orleans....not quite that bad.
McInnis would be a decent pickup for the bench or possibly the starting line, but I would still pursue a big man first.
I see Jeff McInnis as a backup PG/SG... he definatly will not start over Korver. When that kid catches fire, he is totally lights out and the Sixers really need his shooting to carry them over the hump.
I don"t think the sixers should get this guy. The team won"t like him and if the sixers get him i think they will trade him for a draft pick.
