I saw this saying some where, but I forget were rankings are like a girls bikini they show a lot, but not everything. I still would have preferred a player we had seen play in college. So that we would for one not have to rely on all these second hand sources to get an idea of what type of player he is. We would have seen with our own eyes, and also with May you know what you are going to get, but with Fran there is no telling how he will adjust to the American game, and get by the language barrier, etc. If we had drafted May we would have had one of the best rebounding front courts in the league with him and Howard on the boards.

Please explain to me why there is no way? Have you ever seen Vazquez play? Yes Sean May won the national championship, but he's too short to be effective in the NBA, IMO. I'm not saying May isn't gonna be better than Vazquez, because he very well could be. This is Dicky V, the same Dicky V who was all over the ACC, so this is very surprising.

BKS, that's in Oak18tx's sig at PSH. I'm having a hard time figuring out who you were trying to be ahead, because May's stats were really good in college while Vazquez's weren't very good overseas. Are you trying to say give Vazquez a chance?

I'm saying there really is no choice, but to give him a chance I guess. I would still have preferred to have taken someone I would have seen play so that there would be more of a notorious name coming to Orlando who we new what to expect from. With Fran we do not really know what to expect. We will not really get to see the full result of this draft until at least all star break when he has become adjusted to the system in the league, language barrier, etc. A player like Wright or Granger might have been able to have come, and had more of an immediate impact with the team, and helped them get out of the gate quicker.I won?t call him a bust or anything like that, because many teams and analyst seem to think high of him. Such as Utah who was trying to get NY lottery pick to draft Fran. So we will have to see how he pans out.

Proffesional european basketball is more of a challenge than college baskeball. He put up 11 points and almost 10 rebounds a game in 20 minutes during his last season. If he played sean may's minutes on another acc team like say florida state, i guarantee he would average 20 points 10 rebounds. You can't compare a College player to a european player that youve never seen play.

You are just assuming that because of the drafts in the past went so bad, that this one will be too. Give the guy a chance.

Who are you talking to? If its me your right cant compare a European player to a college player which is why I did not. I said I would have preferred to have drafted a player that I have seen and could have more of a impact right out of the gate helping us get off to a good start. Even if Fran does turn out to be a good player it will take a while for him to get past the language barrier, and adjust to the American style of play.

at first i was shacky to see this happen after all the great college stars were passed over. but after reading that he was a great rebounder and a great blocker im happy to see him join the great rebounding team that the magic are.

Wasn't Dicky V the one freaking out on draft night because two international players were picked in a row over players like May, Mccants and Granger? Well that's kinda contradicting that he has Fran over May in his power forward rankings... [IMG]

i remember that too... i could see tha vein on his forward pulsating yet i see this and im wondering why he was so pissed off... to all you sean may lovers out there... please just stop your whining. he is far too undersized anyway, you can teach a player how to grow taller. besides, like father like son. i say give fran a chance and lets see what he has.
