<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Willie Green and John Loyer already are feeling a domino effect in their respective professions in the NBA. Green, the 76ers' restricted free-agent guard, has drawn interest from the Utah Jazz, which is seeking a replacement for Raja Bell, the former Sixer who has an agreement in principle to join the Phoenix Suns. Noah Croom, Green's agent, confirmed that he has fielded a phone call from Jazz senior vice president of basketball operations Kevin O'Connor and said they could have another conversation as soon as today to gauge the level of interest. Green was listed with a salary of $620,046 this season. Sixers president/general manager Billy King has said repeatedly that he fully intended to match any offers for Green, Kyle Korver and Samuel Dalembert. The Sixers can match offers for Green and Korver up to the average league salary, which is expected to be about $5 million. There are no limitations on their ability to match offers for Dalembert.</div> Full Article (Registration Required)
As much as I would hate to see Willie go I am actually interested in seeing what Willie can put up consistantly in a starting or sixth man role for the Jazz. Sure he is a great person to have on our young core but he isn't getting any playing time when Iverson is on the court, which is around 40 minutes a game. I would be interested in a sign and trade with one of the Jazz big men, who knows. I just don't want Willie to go for nothing...

I believe that the 76ers should resign Willie and try and give him some solid minutes at the two-guard position. Although at times a backcourt of Green and AI could struggle defensively I think Green has proved them he is more then just a player who plays when AI is out. When the 76ers played the Pistons in the e playoffs Green got more playing time and he was not bad at all.

Well I do not think we can precisely predict what Greens position with the team will be if he returns next season. We have a new coach, and will probably have an all-new system next season. C.k said that he would like to see Green go to another team to receive playing time, because he won?t be getting that with the 76ers. I do not know how accurate a assumption that is since he may very possibly be playing a lot of time at the shooting guard position with Mckie getting older, and Salmons not living up to the hype that he was given when he was drafted. I don?t think he will start, because him and Green in the backcourt would be a defensive liability. Though Allen is a good defender in getting steals he is not good at one on one defense most of his steals come off help defense, and just using his speed to his advantage. Neither of these players is an Eric Snow in the backcourt in terms of defensive ability. Though like Yao Ming stated he would be very well served in the sixth man role on the team he would provide a shooter/ scorer off the bench, and a guy who could keep the teams momentum going when the second unit comes in. I also think that Korver will not be taking up as many minutes in the lineup if he returns this season a main reason he got so much playing time last season was, because of J.O?s obsession with three point shooters.
I think he's good for the sixers, but with Iverson, Iguodala and McKie all playing in guard positions, they're not all going to be able to play big minutes, yet they all deserve to. So although i'd like to keep Willie, a trade could benefit the sixers in other less saturated areas of the team.
As much as i hate to see him go.. It will be better if he goes to utah he can be a starter there and when he plays alot this man is amazing..I hope the Jazz give him a chance that sixers never gave him
I hope we keep Willie the guys a player and can put up some big numbers when given the chance. AI wont be around forever and Willie can still improve with help. If Marshall is signed then Green would come off the bench. But if we are only able to sign our 3 guys and thats it, I think Ig should move back to SF and Green start at SG.
