<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">MAITLAND -- The Orlando Magic will have a full coaching staff but not a full contingent of their draft picks from last week when they leave today to play in a summer league in Las Vegas.

First-round selection Fran Vazquez remains in Spain while Magic director of basketball operations Scott Herring tries to hammer out the details of a buyout clause that the 6-foot-10 forward has in his current contract. Since Vazquez was not among the first 10 players taken, the Magic might have to pay around only $350,000 to buy him out instead of almost twice that much.

But until the NBA's new collective bargaining agreement is finalized, Herring said it might not be until after the July 22 signing date for free agents that the exact dollar amount is known and Vazquez can come to terms.

"If he's here for training camp, that is the most important thing," head coach Brian Hill said. "But this (summer league) would give him a head start. He'd have a little bit of a feel for the NBA game, for our staff's coaching style, for playing with our roster players that are here right now."

The 12 players the Magic are taking to Las Vegas include second-round picks Travis Diener and Marcin Gortat, as well as their top two rookies from last season -- Dwight Howard and Jameer Nelson. Gortat is a 6-foot-11 forward from Poland whom the Phoenix Suns drafted 57th overall before they traded his rights to the Magic.

Hill completed his staff of five assistant coaches Tuesday with the hiring of Randy Wittman and Mark Bryant. Wittman, who was the head coach of the Cleveland Cavaliers for two seasons, spent the last four years as an assistant with Minnesota.

"He was an extremely smart player," said Hill, who served as an assistant with the Atlanta Hawks during the 1980s when Wittman was a shooting guard for them. "And he's moved right into coaching seamlessly."</div>
