<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Did some of you - and you know who you are - think the 76ers merely were concentrating on re-signing their own trio of restricted free agents? (It's OK if you don't raise your hands and simply accept what's coming next.) The answer is, president/general manager Billy King, assistant GM Tony DiLeo and player personnel director Courtney Witte have a strategy that's slightly more involved. They've been quiet about it to this point, but King opened the door more than just a crack yesterday, confirming the names of several free agents - including forwards Stromile Swift, of Memphis, and Donyell Marshall, of Toronto - whom they have contacted through their respective agents and representatives since July 1. The Sixers' priorities, though, still start with their determination to re-sign center Samuel Dalembert, swing man Kyle Korver and guard Willie Green. After that, they wanted to be sure other possibilities around the NBA were aware of their interest - primary, in some cases; fallback decisions, in others. The Sixers have talked contract specifics with the agents for their three players, and King has vowed to match offers from elsewhere. They can match any offer for Dalembert and can match up to the league average - expected to be about $5 million - for Kor-ver and Green. But all we're talking about regarding others around the league is initial contact. It's a little early for much beyond that. A partial list of their targets includes: Boston's Antoine Walker, Miami's Christian Laettner, Seattle's Vitaly Potapenko, and Indiana's Dale Davis, all unrestricted, plus Washington's Kwame Brown, who is restricted.</div> Source
They are trying to get into the Stromile Swift lottery as a late entry right now he is already meeting with Houston and been sought after by many other teams. That article basically confirmed something all 76ers fans have known for a while. That the team is targeting Donyell Marshall he has really been the big name linked with the team all summer and unless he wants to be under the bright lights of Los Angeles. He will probably sign with the 76ers in the end. A couple names I did not like on that list for one is Brown we all always talk about how big a bust he was for a number one pick so why are so many teams looking to sign him, and give him another pay day? He will have no motivation to get better or be a good player after his latest payday and that's just how his career will go in my mind. Also signing Walker might be bad in my opinion true you get a scorer who over the past years has learned to go inside a little more. However, he will still every now and then fall in love with the perimeter shot, and having another perimeter player on the team is not really a big need for us right now. Though I think of his name being mentioned just as the way I think of Swift?s we are trying to get in the running to sign these big name guys a couple days later than every other team. So it?s sort of like a race, and we got a late start. Dale Davis I would really like to see in a 76ers uniform despite his age he is still a tough inside guy, and would give us some good rebounding and a presence inside. He would also be good in the mentor role for Samuel Dalembert if he returns to the team. Same thing with Laettner I see him in the same light he is not as tough inside, but his shot from big to short range is consistent and a mentor role would be something that would really help our young team.
I can't see us signing Antoine Walker, hes going to get big money from some other team such as the Knicks. If somehow we were to sign him, we would have probably the best starting 5: PG- AI SG- Igudoula SF- Walker PF- Webber C- Dalembert I would like to sign us sign either a starting SF or backup PF. Korver is best off the bench, and him and Green if resigned could put up big numbers for us off the bench and give us the depth we need. They both just need to play better defense, and Korver cannot create his own shot, so he needs to come off the bench and provide a spark with his excellent spot shooting.

I would really like us signing Marshall if not him then maybe Toine.

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">christian laettner IS rip van winkle</div> I have to disagree with you there. Laettner may be rusting quickly, but if we had some extra cash, I would sign CL for a year and I think he would do quite well for our bench.
