<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Any Validity To This Marbury/Hawks Trade Rumor? 6th July, 2005 - 3:34 pm Patrick Austin/RealGM - Chad Ford of ESPN is reporting that the Knicks and Hawks are in discussions about a blockbuster trade involving Stephon Marbury and Al Harrington. Mr. Ford has been known to dream up scenerios that do not pan out, so there may not be much validity to it. Though let?s say, for discussions sake, that talks were actually occurring. Would this be the right move for us to make? Would Stephon Marbury accept being dealt to Atlanta? What kind of impact would this have on our cap space? These are all important questions that I?ll try to answer. The deal would include Al Harrington, Tony Delk, and Jason Collier heading to New York in exchange for Marbury. If this went down, our cap space would not be affected. We?d still have over twenty million dollars to spend on free agents.</div> Source
Yeah, that's what I was gonna say. The Knicks give away a great point guard and get virtually nothing in return. Sure, Harrington can have a positive influence on a team, but why do the Knicks need that many more mediocre players? Collier is nothing but a piece of meat, he can't play basketball for ****. Delk is a journeyman who has an alright outside game, but otherwise they don't get much for the scoring that they're giving up. I'd do it if I were Atlanta, they need a point guard anyways.
That would be an awful trade for the Knicks and a great trade for the Hawks they get thier PG they need who can help out their swingman they have.
why would it be bad for Knicks? They have Nate as a backup now and they've got the MLE to spend on more PG's. to me a line of Crawford, QRich, AL Harrington, Sweetney, Frye looks pretty damn good. And with Nate around, and if they could bring in an Earl Watson or Daniels they could really pull it off. Great trade all around.

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">harrington is a bust........PERIOD</div> are you kidding!? the man is only 24 first of all, and you cant call him a bust, since this was the first year he actually STARTED! oh, and by the way, even without a decent point guard to get him open looks, he STILL averager 17 PPG, not to mention 7 RPG and 3 APG! GRRRRRR!
No offense, but Isiah is an idiot. Just when you give the Knicks credit for doin something, they make another idiotic move. How can you build a good team if you're making trades every 2 or 3 months. Marbury is a good point guard, and a great scorer, and you're best player, why throw him away for Al Harrington. Harrington is average, mediocore. But I should have expected it, Isiah loves fowards. I think the knicks have the world record for the most fowards on a team. The formula for success in the NBA is a point guard, and a good bigman, not 5 Pf's and 4 SF's. Isiah needs to be terminated.
Seems to me the Knicks need to bite a bullet somewhere. The Knicks have been in cap hell with several bloated salary packages that have become near impossible to shed. What the Knicks would probably hope is that with Marbury the bait they can also dump off at least one of those burden contracts
I really don't think the Knicks are ever going to get rid of their Salary Cap problems as long as Isaih is in charge. He's doing whatever he can to imrpove the team (in his mind) he doens't care about contracts. As shown when trading Nazr for Malik, and trading for Tim Thomas, JYD, etc etc etc... They're gonna have to make a big trade sooner or later or else they will not improve at all. I can see Isaih doing a huge trade sometime, to save his arse from being fired at some point during his tenure.

Isiah was never a fan of KVH and traded for someone he thought would benefit more based on the direction the team was going in. Also TT's contract is better than KVH's in terms of length and amount of money. The Knicks could not have gotten Crawford without taking on JYD's contract, but what's wrong with that? JYD is the man and he brings tons of energy and defense to the Knicks. <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">They're gonna have to make a big trade sooner or later or else they will not improve at all. I'm pretty sure Zeke will wait and see how the regular season is before he makes another big move. Btw - Isiah said this trade rumor is 100% false.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting MrJ:</div><div class="quote_post">Malik happens to be a better player than Nazr</div> Heavily debatable. I prefer Mohammed over Rose; statistically (though we know what that amounts to on these boards!) he has a better FG%, and a higher BPG, besides being a both season and career better scorer and rebounder. I would prefer having Mohammed on my team because he comes closer to center size, and can play relatively good defense. Rose isn't that bad of a player, but I think Mohammed makes more of an impact in general.

Mohammed also has a slighyly better FG% with only 2.2% more. In terms of shot blocking, well Mohammed does have the height advantage, but considering his length and athleticism, he should be a much better shot blocker. Rose also has much more experience in the playoffs and in big games than Mohammed does. In terms of scoring, while Mohammed averages more points, Rse is the better scorer. He has much more range, skill, defense, and a much higher basketball IQ than Rose does. On my team, I would much rather have Malik than Nazr. Malik provides so much and his intangibles are what make him even better.

Rose is 3 years older, which isn't THAT much, but in 3 years Mohammed will have shown good improvement. It's rather normal that Rose has more range, given that he is less of an inside scorer due to his relatively low height in comparison to most other forwards.
