Nate Mcmillan has just signed a 5 year deal to coach the Blazers according to Chad Ford. What a suprise! I thought that once ray signed in seattle that we would be the next one
wow this is strange, I thought like you that once ray was going to stay so would he. But then again this was chad ford reporting this lol
Yea but it just showed up on sportscenter. I think he want's to coach Telfair and Martell in the future. WHat a move. I also like this move because Nate will be able to relate to his players because he was once a player in the NBA.
Here's the article. <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Former Seattle SuperSonics head coach Nate McMillan has agreed to five-year contract with the Portland Trail Blazers, league sources told ESPN Insider Chad Ford. McMillan was believed to be the Blazers' No. 1 choice all along, with the team also talking to former Blazers player and Bucks ex-coach Terry Porter and Phoenix assistant Marc Iavaroni. The Blazers appeared close to offering the job to Iavaroni in late June, with the caveat that they first wanted a shot at luring McMillan away from the SuperSonics. The New York Times reported Sunday that Portland is offering McMillan an annual salary of $6 million. McMillan had been given a deadline by the Sonics to decide his coaching future by the middle of this week.</div> Link
Interesting, hiring McMillan is definitely nice replacement for Coach Cheeks. Even though Ray Allen agreed to terms with the Sonics I'm not sure if he has actually signed a contract or what. But if he hasn?t and he isn?t happy with the Sonics not getting McMillan back, then that might persuade him to sign some where else.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Flava23:</div><div class="quote_post">Great news. No more Terry Porter. This is gonna be one helluva team next yr</div> not next year but in two or three years, all I have to say is WOW!
That's great news for Blazers fans, they've got a good guy in charge now, hopefully he'll clean things up in that locker room and lead the Blazers back to contention. But wow, what a surprise. Wow. The Sonics keep Allen, and McMillian still leaves? Wow. That's really all I can say. Wow. Well, congrats Blazer fans, you've taken another big step forward in the rebuilding process.

<div class="quote_poster">Quoting durvasa:</div><div class="quote_post">So was Mo Cheeks, but that didn't help him any.</div> True, but I think that this team is less phsyco than Mo's team. Randolph is maturing, no Stoudemire, Ruben Patterson may be gone, and the only headcase I see is D. Miles. It will be interesting to see how thi sone is going to play out though.
this is good news and all but I don't think that the current roster fits Nate's coaching( Hard workers work of stars)...if Pierce will come along Nate will make the Blazers real good but right now we have a 9 solid players in the team and Nate is not used to that kind of team he likes it when he have shooters like Allen,Lewis and Daniels - the Blazers are the exact oppisete - especially when NVE and Damon will be gone.
