ESPN reports that Nate McMillian has agreed to coach the Portland Trailblazers for 5 years. Dollars not disclosed at this time. I do not like this move. I think Nate should have stayed in Seattle esp. since the Sonics have signed Ray and have lewis still there. There are too many problems in Portland to overcome. The number one problem is that there is no talent on the squad and you have two overpaid guards in Patterson and Van Exel. Maybe the money was too much to pass up for Mcmillan or he felt disrecpted by the Sonics not offering him a contract before or during the 04-05 season. He is a good coach. Good luck to him.

Wow.. this is very surprising I never expected this. I can see Nate regretting this in the future.. it depends on how he lays down the law on the players in Portland. He should give a no B.S attitude in Portland hopefully. He needs to crack down on all the players and make them respect him and listen to him. That team is full of meatheads, and you don't want the young ones with potential following their footsteps. He must take charge from Day 1.
its funny how everyone says oh he will regret this move when the Sonics will never win a ring with the current roster they have. so how is not winning a ring in Portland going to make him regret it? if you look at each roster the Blazers have a better future. i guess you people are all about last year though which is cool..
Hes a damn good coach.One of the top coaches last year.Portland has some hope of making the playoffs id say.Honestly,everyone thought the Sonics would be garbage going into last season.The credit for their success last year is given mostly to Nate.
Lets hope he can straighten out the attidudes of some of the players and make it a great season for portland fans, if they still have any

once again, I'm reminded of the song "C.R.E.A.M." by the Wu... i guess winning didnt mean anything to Nate not to mention the history and the fans who've seen him play since he arrived to seeing him take up coaching. Here's one guy who wont look at Nate the same way again!!
I think Nate is just one of those coaches that like to be apart of a rebuilding stage, and thats what Portland is starting to do. I do think he had it all back in Seattle but it was his option to head South and hopefully for him he does not regret it.
