<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">It develops in the form of a sling shot, the way Antonio Burks contorts into an unorthodox shooting motion.

With a tight grip on the basketball, Burks stretches his hands behind his head nearly far enough to reach his backside before throwing his arms forward and catapulting a field-goal attempt.

The approach is somewhat effective, but always ugly.

So the next time you see Burks play basketball, you'll notice something is missing from his game.

    The sling shot is gone.

Burks, who is participating in the Grizzlies' minicamp this week, will travel with the team to the Summer Pro-Am League at Long Beach, Calif., packing a new and improved jump shot.

Now using a more conventional shooting motion -- elbows square and not pointed outward -- Burks sees the benefits to the changes.

"If I'm shooting the way I'm shooting right now, it's all about confidence," Burks said. "It's going in right now. When I was shooting the other shot, I was just shooting it. I wasn't sure if it would go in. If it did, good. But now I'm more consistent with my shot. I have a better feel when it leaves my hands."

    He should.

Burks. who missed Wednesday with a slight hamstring injury, has launched jump shot after jump shot for weeks. He quietly took over the FedExForum practice court no sooner than Grizzlies brass concluded draft workouts. </div>

Good to see that Burks took the time to straighten out his jumper. Maybe if Jason Williams gets traded or if Earl Watson leaves via free agency Burks will finally get some playing time to show his stuf

I hope Earl leaves instead of Jason

I think Jason might be traded. He's too much of a hothead and although he is still one of the most exciting point guards in the league, he can either shoot you into or out of a game. I would rather have Earl Watson. He plays a little more controlled and he's a hard worker, although I'm not really sure if he will resign with Memphis.

Good to see Burks working on his game. With the expected free agent/trade departures of Watson and/or Williams, he could become a valuable piece for the Griz next year. With their depth and the way they use it, he has a chance to have a Watson-like breakout, and I've always liked Burks's game from his college days. Good stuff, hope he becomes a player for you guys.

The Grizzlies won't come back from the offseason without a Point Guard. I can promise you that. So I don't see Burks playing a big role with out team this season.

Overall, I think that's for the better. I don't think that Antonio Burks has any business in the NBA, and it's a complete joke that Memphis signed him. Like bringing in Erwin to their summer league team, they just want to bring in the local University of Memphis fan base.
