<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Before the Draft, Williams had said he would consider going to the University of Georgia for at least a year if he wasn?t selected in the first round. That thought crossed his mind when the first 30 picks went by without him being selected.

?There was a thought,? Williams said. ?After the first round, it started to be a thought. But once I was called to Philly, I realized that was the kind of situation I would be happy with. So I stuck with it.?

Williams? mother, Janice Faulkner, sat alongside and talked of what it was like for her son to be headed to the NBA.

?Obviously I?m very proud of him,? she said. ?This has been a long road. He started when he was nine years old. Having been drafted to Philadelphia, I?m extremely excited. I?m finding that we have family here, extended family, and I think it?s going to be a real good situation for him.?

One of the first orders of business for the 76ers is determining what position will be best for Williams. He has the ability to play both point guard and shooting guard, but his size puts him at a slight disadvantage for the shooting guard position in the NBA.

?He?s going to learn to play a little point guard, and to play some shooting guard,? said Sixers Head Coach Maurice Cheeks. ?His challenge is actually being in the program.?

In that regard, Williams feels he?ll be able to do whatever the Sixers ask him to do.

?I haven?t played a lot of point guard recently, but I?ve played it before,? Williams said. ?I?ve been the shooting guard on my high school team for the past two years, and I was the point guard two years before that. It?s just a matter of me going back to my natural position and getting used to it. I?m just going to come in and play my game and do everything this organization needs me to do. As an 18 year old coming into this league, I?m just going to come in and work hard, and hopefully everything will work out.?</div>

Williams?s sounds focused, I think he is a keeper. You guys talk about how we don't need guards but he is definitely going to be help down the line.
